People work abroad and transfer money to Lebanon. That is the main answer to all your questions. This is how people are well off, this is why everything is so expensive (big salaries from abroad get spent here, raising prices because people can and are willing to pay higher amounts), this is how people are comfortable in this country. All families who only have incomes from jobs in Lebanon are poor, or at best living at a passable level. That's the truth. My advice to you and everyone else is to look for opportunities to leave Lebanon eventually. Unfortunately that gets harder and harder by the day.

You cant do anything here in this situation. I respect you and all the hard work you are doing to pay your college fees and get a proper education but sadly you're not going to see much success here. I highly suggest you apply for jobs outside the country.
And trust me you are not alone, I myself work at a bank and it still pays like shit, I cant afford a house and I can barely afford my car. I broke up with my future fiance (4 year relationship), I cant afford a mediocre "lebanese" wedding and I can barely support my parents. Life is getting much worse here. (sorry for the rant) Young people like us have no future whatsoever in this country, only rich people can survive in this hellhole.

Alternative One: Apply for GCC Countries
Alternative Two: Apply for a Skilled Worker Visa for a Canadian Migration Plan
Alternative Three: Nepotism Rules in Lebanon, If your parents has connections you are lucky, applicable to alternative two , relatives living in GCC mu utilize their connections to speed up catching opportunities
Alternative Four: Let a Rich Girl fall in love with you , socialize well.
Not Alternative Dependable: Luck
Finally , if you are believer always trust GOD Plan.

I havent tried but id say travel to a country in europe that offers free education. Use the money for accomodation and food. I think Finland is an option but might need to learn the language

not the answer you are looking for but I'm going to share it anyway.
engineering will get you nowhere, the market is over saturated; I'm speaking from experience.
your best bet is to find a major, not necesserly university grade, that you know you can work with after graduating, preferably outside of the common Lebanese "Prestige" practices like engineering, Medical etc.
My recommendation, find a trade, people with trades are making much more money than people with degrees these days.
Good Luck with your choices.

With all due respects the most difficult thing that I had to deal with in Lebanon is being told every day and every hour that we live in a sh*thole and that "the rest of the world" are so well off and have their whole dream life handed over on a silver platter. Please stop comparing Lebanon to "other countries".
As if African, Southwest asia or any other poorer countries where people make less then $100 a month, do not exist in this scheme of things, and as if any of you who nag about the country have any experience living in any of the richer countries (Europe, US, etc.), and I don't mean that holiday in Amsterdam where you blew $2000.
Anyway, monumental, to go back to the topic, I am not judging. I know it must be difficult, and I know how it can be somewhat miserable to earn a living in Lebanon when you are just starting.
You say that you have knowledge of graphic design and some CAD? How about freelancing?
There is an event with BDL accelerator beginning November (Steve Wozniak will be a speaker! And I don't even think anyone mentioned it here). There is the Beirut Design week, which passed. These are events where you can maybe network and eventually find freelance jobs and build connections. Otherwise you can create your own gatherings, or join clubs.
You can also try universities. Some students are willing to pay for someone else to do their final year project (or other). It sucks but you can go there, make some "friends" and get some money and practice at the same time.
If you do a good job and maintain connections then people will start asking you to do work for them, and you can allow yourself to charge decent rates when freelancing - even if at the beginning there is a tendency sell your skills for cheap.
