Memory is memory, I don't give a damn what brand it is, if it's cheap and a color I like/that matches my build, I pick it up.
Die_Kapitan with the architecture of skylake ram can affect performance, if you have faster ram you will get faster performance it is not like with older architectures it did not make a difference with those.
Lobo do not worry about brands for now except if you are building enthusiasts/extreme build, get the brand that offers the speed that your mobo can use and is the cheapest.
It can affect performance for any generation, but I'm not willing to pay more for a marginal increase in performance (5FPS at most), especially in games I play.
Right now, the sweetspot for bandwidth/$ is 2666MHz, it's a bit more expensive than 2133MHz but substantially cheaper (relative to memory price) than 3000MHz memory. I'd pay the difference for 2666MHz, but no way I'd pay for more than that, plus, you can always get the cheapest kit that has a good heatsink and overlcock the memory, won't work but on Z series boards, but H and B series boards can only support 2133MHz memory, anyway.
