Hello all, i recently bought a 100 AH battery and i intend to use it as backup power for my desktop and air conditioner (will add a bigger battery for longer use in the future) my desktop uses maximum 330W at full power and the a/c is 9000 BTU soo i guess it uses maximum 800W, what is the recommended ups size for this kind of usage? i asked some people and they said 1200W (approx 1500VA) should be enough but i thought i should as u guys before i make any stupid decision.. So does any one have some experience in these things ?
Thanks in advance.
Hi
The amount of power used is 1200 W, to be on the safe side the UPS Load should be 70% of maximum UPS power, at least the UPS power should be 1500 W or 2000 W (2000 is better).
Don't forget that the UPS should be sine wave to run the AC.
Usually the inverter in UPS cut off the power when reaching form 60 to 80% battery charge to maintain the battery's health, so in best cases every 100AH battery will deliver 70AH.
Every 100AH battery will run for approx 40 minutes on 1200 W load when the battery at full charge and good condition.
So if you need to run the system for 2 hours you should have 300AH set of batteries
Well thanks for replying Mayyad.
Guess i'll use it only for my desktop..
