  • Can't find a decent powersupply.

Hello everyone, I have been referring to these forums for advice for years now without ever registering but today I bit the dust and finally did :) thank you for having me flip back to my university programming course to be able to write a code for the registration question haha.

Anyway as the title suggests I can't for the life of me find a decent PSU for my pc :(
I have an evga gtx 1080 Superclocked sitting in the closet with no PSU and it is driving me insane.

my system needs about 400w of power and I'm planning to install a 750w-850w psu to allow for future upgrade and/or sli. I'm willing to go as high as 1000w if a good PSU is found :( yes im that desperate.
The only 2 DECENT just decent PSU units I can find are the thermaltake toughpower gold 750w and a corsair cs 850 or 750w

I would be willing to pay extra for a good psu if it is readily available but I don't want to wait a long time as the rest of my pc is avaible.
I never imagined the psu to give me the most trouble out of all the pc parts I have put together and I don't want to end up frying a 3500$ rig with a bad psu.

Any advice is highly appreciated and desperately needed!
Thank you in advance.

Both macrotronics units are actually out of stock :(
That is good to hear and to be honest i prefer the 850 sonce the oem is enhance while the 750 its cwt so there might be a slight difference even though thermaltake ordered the same build quality....do you have a ups installed too? Im curious to see which one

Macrotronics should let me know when they can get me one by 7pm today. Fingers crossed.

Any comments about the corsair cs?
Smart move. I recommend Corsair (excluding VS series), but most 80+ gold are good enough. i currently own a thermaltake 80+ gold modular psu. runs great and no probs at all.

You own a thermaltake that runs great but you recommend the corsair cs over the thermaltake toughpower gold?
You should contact Compuworld they have a variety of psus there and if they don't have it in stock they will find it for you.

I can check tomorrow if there's one in stock laying somewhere near if you want...

As for my advice, i've been rocking the TT Tough series for the past 10 years, not a single issue. My 7 years old TT Tough 775w is still rock solid, but i had to go for a new 1200W and still good old perfomance.

Tell me what you need, i'll make sure to have it by tomorrow or after tomorrow tops.

If you can get your hands on a tt 850w that would be great!! But any tier 1 or tier 2 psu is fine...my system needs about 400w but i prefer installing at least 750w preferably 850
Ok so I may have found a corsair hx750i but the guy is charging 270$ for it pc and parts had the hxi850 for 235 $ while in stock...I will try to find a better option before ordering
Ok i was able to get my hands on the hx750i thanks everyone for your help!!
