  • Looking for a nice laptop under $800

Hello,

I want to buy a nice laptop under $800. I'll normally use it for browsing and writing. Nothing major. It should work flawless.

Any ideas?

Thank you guys.
If you don't have any other requirements and you want the fastest cheap laptop I recommend that you something cheap and upgrade it.

Lenovo G50-80A 80E503ELAX Intel Core i3-5005U 4GB Ram 1TB HDD DVDRW 15.6" LED LAN, WIFI/BT Shared VGA Cam/ DOS - $319.00

That's a good basic laptop with i3 - 4gb ram - HD screen - average 3 hours battery
The modifications I recommend for it are:

Extra 4Gb of RAM because 4GB is too low in case you use Chrome :)
- Kingston KVR16S11S8/4 4GB DDR3-1600MHz for Notebook $24.00

SSD that will change the night to a day, the laptop will become very responsive and fast
- Kingston HyperX Fury SHFS37A/240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) $77.00

USB3 2.5" Sata3 enclosure to put the 1TB drive that came with the laptop to use as external storage
- Transcend StoreJet 25S3 TS0GSJ25S3 2.5" SATA USB 3.0 External Enclosure Link $15.00

That's a 435$ without TVA (478.5$ with TVA)

Notes:
* Prices are from pcandparts.com
* Some could suggest the Samsung 750 Evo 250GB SSD but I placed an order today and it is out of stock
* Do not forget the additional few dollars for shipping
* You might want to add a carrying case (Good Quality Notebook Carrying Case 15.6" $16.00)
* You might want to add a mouse (Logitech Wireless Mouse M171 Black $18.00 OR Logitech Wireless Mouse M235 $21.00)
The ADATA SP550 is better than the HyperX Fury, and cheaper.
