Die_Kapitan wrote1. Have you tried VR Porn on it? If yes, does the experience differ from that on Cardboard VR? (gotta set the priorities straight)
2. What made you get it over the Rift? (other than Facebook and Fuckerberg)
3. How's the experience of using it?
4. Have you tried any games on it? If yes, which games?
5. Would you recommend someone jumping on the VR train this early, or would you recommend waiting until same spec VR is cheaper and you can get better specs for the same price of the Vive?
1.only had it for a day, so no porn...yet
2.the roomscale games are what I am looking for in VR as they help me get off my ass. I got a demo from VR ZONE and I was convinced. Then all the Facebook crap happened and solidified my decision.
3.the experience is great, im using it as a workout device (cardio workout, i get drenched in sweat are playing some specific games and sore the next day, so it must be working) and a social device (VR parties are the most fun we had in a while in my social group) as well as a gaming device.
4.i have a long list of downloaded games and my wishlist is full with twice as much. Games I played are :
-The Lab (made by valve, is a collection of super polished tech demos linked by a portal themed hub-like lab)
-The blu (deep sea experiences, great for demoing VR for non gamers.)
-Holopoint (my main cardio workout, shoot targets and enemies with a bow and arrow and Dodge incoming projectiles from the exploding targets)
-Audiosheild (from the same dev as audiosurf, same vibe as guitar hero, a rhythm game where you deflect blue and red orbs with the corresponding colored sheild, uses your own mp3 library to generate the beat maps, i use it as a warm up for Holopoint)
-Brookhaven experiment (playing the demo, waiting for the full game, it's an atmospheric zombie shooter where 50% of people freak out physically, very fun to watch )
-Space pirate trainer (shoot waves of drones with an array of laser weapons and you also have a sheild that you pull out of your back when you need it, it's a lot of people's favorite)
-Hot dogs, horse shoes and hand grenades (nevermind the name, it's a realistic gun simulator, a series of different interesting fun ranges where you shoot realistic guns with realistic physics and realistic gestures like turn off safety, reloading clips and magazines, cocking after reloads, etc... Gun fans will have a blast... Pun intended)
And much more, if you like the whole list with the titles on my wishlist also I'm happy to share.
5. Trickiest question:
Are you a fan of bleeding edge tech?
Is your rig powerful enough to handle it?
Do you have the minimum required space for roomscale games?
Are you a fan of escapism?
Are you out of shape and constantly struggling to maintain the will to work out?
Can you stomach the cost without missing bills or skipping meals?
Do you enjoy being an early adopter and moving the medium forward?
The more positive answers you have to these questions, the more I recommend you get an HTC vive.
For me, it was all yes, and I do not regret it one bit.
