You're funny!
I don't know much but I know how Dubai rents are and that's all I need to know.
When I was there I stayed in company accommodation in Sharjah. It's not too far. I am guessing it would be cheaper. It's a different Emirate. I guess you're on the right track to look outside the center and more at the "desert edges".
Congratulations for your job and good luck.
If I were you (reminder: I am not you) I'd rent a modest place close to work and leave the rest for later, when you're better settled in your job and have a better idea of where to look. You'd probably find better tips from people over there.
Thanks man! But yeah there are reasonably places to rent in Dubai believe it or not. I already found a studio in JLT for around AED 70,000 a year, which is like 1600 USD a month. I know it's not cheap or anything but by Dubai standards I expected it to be a lot worse.
Anyway, I thought about it and I decided that my best option a studio, but in a good neighborhood. Since I'll only be there for a couple of weeks every month I don't wanna be far away from downtown and a studio is enough for now. If I get a raise later on, I'll get a one or two bedroom.
vegetaleb wroteGood luck, I wish I can get a job there, I got an offer some months ago but they only offered 3000$ and the rent was on me, the work conditions were also bad, so I declined because from my calculations I would have found my self with only 500$ per month saved in bank while in Lebanon my last job gave me 3x more.
From my calculations, you must count between 1800 and 2200$ per month rent for a 50m2 + food + bills (internet,electricity,water...) + a housemaid that come and clean twice a week...
So yeah my friends recommend me at least 5000$ per month for Dubai because rent is very high, some people said even more if you are kind of night life addict (which I am not at all)
Thank you man, Yes it's difficult to get an offer to be comfortable there, thankfully this great underrated tool called Linkedin helped me find a great job with a respectful company that seems to understand the cost of living there. Don't give up looking, it's doable, but really use Linkedin, the only few times where I've been close and the time it worked were originally from there.
