  • GTX 1080 predicted pricing and release date in Lebanon

So following the official announcement from Nvidia the GTX 1080 is going to be released May 27 and the GTX 1070 in June 10. Would anyone know when do new graphic cards usually come to Lebanon? And what could their prices be if the GTX 1080 was for 599$ MSRP and the GTX 1070 379$ MSRP?
I suspect an ETA in Lebanon August-September , with an MSRP of custom PCBs of 500-600 for the 1070 and 700-800 for the 1080. I will wait for official benchmarks and what Polaris 10 (490/490x) will offer with leaked rumors highlighting that they will not be much faster than the 390/390x however with a launching price of USD 299 and much lower heat dissipation , I guess Pascal will nail it performance wise and Performance/Price for the Polaris 10 and GTX 1070 . Still skeptical about Direct x 12 performance and Asynchronous compute for Pascal , only time will tell. The 1080ti (GP100) expected release will be Q1 2017 with 16GB of HBM 2.0. Founders Edition" cards bought directly from Nvidia.com, which will sell for $699 and $449 respectively ((I suspect to make it to Lebanon)).
I watched the unveiling of the cards via streaming and I was kinda impressed by some things:

One really interesting idea was the "Simultaneous multi-projection" that corrects the perspective view when using 3 monitors warped around you. That seems like a very nice tech to use.

Another cool thing was the "Single Pass Stereo" that increased the fps of VR by ~1.5X (when they were viewing the monster at ~68fps then turned it on and it bumped the fps to around ~96fps

"ANSEL" is kinda nice I suppose, but I wouldn't see myself using it regularly

One thing that was really surprising is when they were showcasing that real time rendering of characters and they showed the Clock speed running at 2114 MHz, and Air cooled only at 67C!!

And I suppose in the end, alot of questions and speculation still remain, such as whether the 1080 is indeed 2X faster than the Titan X, are the performance gains based on the normal or boost clock or the crazily overclocked 2114 MHz, and is that 67C!! "air cooled" a normal fan cooling, for all we know it could have been in a cold area or have an AC blowing on it and it could still be called "air cooled"

Also the specified 180W TDP is quite impressive for this performance range, and DP 1.4 is something new on this card

As for the whole "DX12 performance", yes there was not a single mention whether the card would be properly implementing asynchronous compute in the conference, however on Nvidia's news site (http://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/a-quantum-leap-in-gaming:-nvidia-introduces-geforce-gtx-1080), they state on the 4th "marvel of pascal":
"New asynchronous compute advances improve efficiency and gaming performance"

Will 1080 be faster than a 980Ti(overclocked atleast)? is the 1070 indeed faster than a Titan X? are these performance gain claims based only on VR or in actual normal game performance? DX12 performance? difference between the normal and founder edition?

We'll just have to wait until the cards release and tech sites to benchmark and review the cards!

If the gains are as good as they say for games I might be looking to get a 1070 or 1080 for my first pc build.

BONUS: DOOM running on the 1080 at ultra settings using Vulkan API https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0y3LaLJoo0s, check the frame rate(keep watching and see what happens)

Actually, Polaris 10 is either R9 480 and 480X or R9 470 and 470X, depending on if AMD keep the Fury branding or not, respectively.
Everyone is selling their 980s now...
im selling my 980 lol dat 1080 is just too much
I think this time I am gonna go for a 80 at the end not a 70.
19 days later
700 to 800$ doesn't seem much considering that if you want to ship it on your own it will cost the same if not more, and to add the fact that Warranty will be a hassle when you buy it online and having to pay for almost a quarter of the card for shipping charges if it was faulty, so I'd say I will definitely buy this from here. I just hope I'll have enough saved up when it's here because I have a feeling it will be sold it pretty fast in Lebanon
Now as me a person who got the ASUS STRIX GTX980 last year during august fr 700$...i dont think it is necessary to buy this gtx1080
Massdrop created a list for the GTX1080, I would not call it a drop because it is listed at 700$ which is the same MSRP from Nvidia, it costs 77$ to ship to Lebanon and it will ship around 1st June, so roughly it will arrive at the start of August, as for customs I only tried Massdrop with a 60$ mouse and no customs were requested at delivery, I only paid the item price + Massdrop shipping, so at the end 770$ is almost the same price of the cheapest 980Ti in Lebanon (760$ for MSI 980Ti Gaming at pcandparts)

AMD Vega or 1080Ti is the way to go (for me) , surprisingly from recent reviews the 1070 actually beat the Titan X on 1440p and comes on par on 2160p , even with a 256bit bus width and ddr5 , the increase in Cuda Cores played a role. However , it will not be a future proof even with these results as more AAA demanding games are rolling out even if the 1070 managed 60 fps on 1440p on some demanding titles, the narrow memory bandwidth with DDR5 will create shutters and FPS spikes. DDR5x / HBM / HBM 2.0 are the way to go. But comparatively 980Ti vs 1070 (1070 all the way ,higher Performance/ Price Ratio , more efficient , much better Asynchronous Computer Performance on Direct X 12 , New Pascal Tweaks); 980Ti as a present investment will have a negative ROI.
As long as Denuvo is not cracked I won't consider a Pascal card
And anyway wait for October/November for prices drop, can you buy from aliexpress or they will charge customs too?
Damn the 1070 is a bit deceiving, it's sometimes slightly better than Titan and sometimes just as good as 980 Ti, the 1080 is greatly overpriced even if it's a 4K powerhouse, the difference between 1070 and 1080 in performance is huge while it was insignificant between the 970 and 980.
I think I am gonna skip this round unless Nvidia comes up with a 1070 Plus edition with better fps in 1440p-4K DSR
I am getting some Gigabyte 1080's by next week if anyone is interested.
Final price isn't fixed yet, but should be around 610-620$

This one you mean?
haidcar wroteVega10 + Summit Ridge.
While Vega will surely beat the GTX 1070 and 1080, we have to wait and see what it delivers.

HBM2 is nice, and its production is ahead of schedule, so Vega might actually launch in October according to some sources, Summit Ridge might launch in October too, which makes both come to market before Big Pascal and Kaby Lake (not too sure, but according to MSI, 200 series boards will come out in November, and while most 100 series boards support Kaby Lake, they'll probably do like the 80 and 90 series boards, they'll launch the 200 series, which support Skylake, Kaby Lake and Cannonlake, the day they launch Kaby Lake).

Problem is according to some sources, AMD will only launch hexa and octa core CPUs, and may only launch quad cores for OEMs, so unless they price Summit Ridge competitively it'll be enthusiast-only. I think AMD may market APUs for the mainstream and CPUs for the enthusiast-class.
If you crossfire the two new AMDs it will be a total of 400$ and it will outrange the 1080. I just love these wars between Nvidia and AMD.

Nvidia went too far with their pricings, they think they have the monopoly of the market but ATI can do a difference like back in 4850 times...
