I don't know why, but that 10 is slower than others. Maybe there's bloatware loaded on it by the guy who made the video. It's much faster than that, I've seen it with my own eyes
HTC M10 information central
Well it might look the fastest phone on earth but that doesn't mean it is!Salloum wroteI don't know why, but that 10 is slower than others. Maybe there's bloatware loaded on it by the guy who made the video. It's much faster than that, I've seen it with my own eyes
Comparing it to other phones is what proves it!
I've watched each and every speed comparison video involving the HTC10 from many youtubers! It lost all of its battles! G5, S7, S7e, P9, Mate 8, etc... Even lost against already slow Xiaomi Mi5.
I always thought HTC does some magic tricks/optimization to improve performance! It seems I was wrong! I was considering this phone but I'm utterly disappointed now! Not because it's 0.5sec slower to open an app, but because on such light software it should be beating other S820 phones but it's not...
a month later
For those who have this device is it possible to get 5-6 hours screen on time on one charge?
My friend used to get around 4 hours with regular use. now he gets over 1 hour with Pokemon go.
5 months later
Can anyone provide a reasonable explanation to why HTC 10 costs today 610$ under warranty in Lebanon while:
- S7 costs 500$
- LG G5 costs 460$
Why this arrogance from HTC? What is the wow thing that the HTC 10 provide and that others lack to explain the 100-150$ price difference? As if they are openly telling people to buy something else!!
My reference for prices is phonefinity.

Hey, this is standard policy from HTC, i've noticed that overtime, all phone brands reduce their prices, all but HTC.
i remember my HTC One M7 never fluctuated in price.
Huawei have the same policy (in lebanon), but with a twist, instead of buying a device the full price (exemple Huawei Mate 9 at 800$) you will buy it at 520$ day 1, and it will still be arround that buying price all year long.
I got my Mate 8 last February for 440$ with warranty, today it cost 410 without warranty.
i used to be an HTC fan but frankly, for that price get a OnePlus 3T / Mate 9.

At least Huawei are not robbing us, unlike HTC!Draguen wroteHey, this is standard policy from HTC, i've noticed that overtime, all phone brands reduce their prices, all but HTC.

The price has barely ever dropped since this phone came out. Personally I don't think that's a bad thing. It's the Apple way, the prices are always the same. I feel more comfortable buying from these types of companies because I know my investment is somewhat safe. Ask someone who paid 950$ for an S7 edge on launch day how they feel today.
-Amhaz business is down
-HTC has less popularity than samsung hence much more stocks of S7 brought and sold so price can change more fluently
-Price of the HTC 10 didn't really drop internationally

I know my experience is one in a million, but the htc i had died after 1 year and 1 month, i bought it under warranty at the time, and learned the hard way that when the phone's mobo dies exactly 1 month after the end of the warranty, you're f*****.
So basically, i bought an over expensive phone that i got at an extra cost for the Warrenty, that died with a reselling value of 0$.
3 lessons should be learned here :
You should not buy a phone if you're not ready to lose all its value.
Buying a premium brand does not mean better build quality.
Don't buy htc, even if it was the best phone i ever had.
Regardless of the phone's buying price, if it's an android, you will hardly be reselling it for a good price.
Actually the fact that a new phone value diminishes over time, allow people that would not buy it at insane prices to still profit from a flagship at 2/3 of the cost.
I mean really, what's the difference between a 1 year old phone and the brand new shining model?
Anyway, in my opinion, never buy a phone for more than 500$

except that htc doesn't sell 1% OF Iphone's sales!!!Salloum wroteThe price has barely ever dropped since this phone came out. Personally I don't think that's a bad thing. those who bought s7 edge for 950 are stupid!
The first 2 points apply to LG G5 too. The 3rd point confirms HTC's arrogance.vegetaleb wrote-Amhaz business is down

exactly. that's why I am frustrated by HTC 10's price because I wanted the phone without having to feel robbed.Draguen wrote?

It's not arrogance, they picked a marketing a la iphone, premium build with aluminum, premium sound system and the best skinned Android UI you can find specially compared to samsung phones which are more into quantity than quality, and we saw the result this year with the burning Note 7.kfc wroteThe first 2 points apply to LG G5 too. I had all hTC phones since the Nexus 1 and apart the M7's camera purple fault I never ever had any hardware problem.
That doesn't mean that htc and iphones are 100% reliable and durable, you will always find 1 unit over 10000 that will have a problem.
But the perfectionism of the UI compared to the childish immature UI from samsung and the more ''classy'' feeling of aluminum (against glass) give them a marketing positioning to keep prices higher, it's pure marketing.
Another example: I bought a Fujifilm camera X-T10 that comes with a kit lens in plastic aka XC lens, though all other lenses from Fuji are made in Japan and metal and have a starting price of 450$, do they give a much better image quality? No, it's just so faintly better that you won't notice it, but they sell these metal lenses much more expensive than the plastic ones because it's metal and more durable, does it explain the +300$ in price? No, in factory a metal casing will cost them just 20$ more. But they use this spec to sell at a much higher price marketing wise
It is arrogance because they are not doing well in sales and yet they insist on pricing their phones much more than what they are worth. Apple can do that because it sells 1463364 times more than Htc, but HTC cant do that.vegetaleb wroteIt's not arrogance, they picked a marketing a la iphone, premium build with aluminum, premium sound system and the best skinned Android UI you can find specially compared to samsung phones which are more into quantity than quality, and we saw the result this year with the burning Note 7.kfc wroteThe first 2 points apply to LG G5 too. Sony have the same problem as HTC but not as severe.

Not to add fuel on fire but, frankly, htc one m7 had heavy widespread camera issue and they decided not to recall their phones /not to cover it under the Warrenty. (not talking abt the mobo here, though to my knowledge this was also a well known issue).
The m8 did a lot of things wrong (camera again), humongous bezels , but still had an OK design.
The m9 was just bad. Battery draining, bad camera, overheating...
I would have understood their pricing policy if after the m7 they just had improved on their initial design, but instead they really went downward and still asked a shameful amount of money. Don't forget that apple does the hardware and software to a much further extent than HTC.
The M10 is just an overpriced okay phone. The UI is not so much better than the competitors nowadays, and you could have an equivalent hardware for half the price.

Tbh if you're in the market for a top end Android you'll be looking to spend anywhere between 500 to 700. HTC is in the middle and even though the M10 is sort of starting to age now I still would take it over a G5 or S7. The Sense UI is by far the best custom skin available on Android and it has a great DAC. I might even take it over the S7 edge.
This is not accurate! Which android flagship (which is not a phablet) costs more than 600 3 months after its release? None!Salloum wroteTbh if you're in the market for a top end Android you'll be looking to spend anywhere between 500 to 700. HTC is in the middle
Htc is not in the middle, it is the most expensive.
M7 camera sensors were replaced free of charge unless you bought it from amhazDraguen wroteNot to add fuel on fire but, frankly, htc one m7 had heavy widespread camera issue and they decided not to recall their phones /not to cover it under the Warrenty. All the rest are pure personal feeling, frankly iphones have as much problems as HTC (hardware) if not more, I know that as I worked at istyle (mic not working, camera, touch screen...you name it)
It's crazy how every time someone open a topic about mobile phones here it turns out into a flaming war :)
kfc is complaining about the high price of HTC 10 not its hardware
