Hello,

Any idea where I can get an HD receiver?
I have a smart tv and I need the receiver to get a better picture.

Thanks in advance.
The only HD channel i watch is national geographic, you can find it at any store that sells dishes, ask in mazraa.
You can find them everywhere--just be aware that there are very few FTV (free to view) HD channels on Nilesat and Arabsat. That being said, just find a receiver that has a built in subscription (g-share/cccam) and try to watch cablevision, digititek or hotbird which have a much better selection of HD channels. If you find a receiver in the $80+ range you should be ok (Corniche El Mazraa is good place to look). There have been a few threads about receivers lately---just search the site to get more information.

It has been about 9 months since I got my HD tv, and just about every channel I watch is in HD. The other ones just don't cut it any more.
Thank you for your input.

The thing is we already have a satellite cable from the dish guy. The person who installed the tv told us about the machine and said that it will be a link between the dish cable and the tv, which got me a bit confused. Unfortunately I was not home to ask him more about it and that is my first smart tv experience.

Is it the same box as you are talking about?
He's talking about the decoder box, call him, the dish guy, ask him about an hd decoder.

He may be talking about an HDMI cable, but it is sort of confusing. If you have a box from an 'ishtirak cable' guy, the box won't be hd no matter what. If you bought a receiver from a regular satellite guy and now you need to upgrade the receiver, then follow what I said before. If otoh, your receiver is HD ready, then you need an HDMI cable. If you need a cable, make sure you get something have decent though. The 5-10kLL ones aren't ones I would recommend.
I'll just rely on the dish guy's advice, I guess he knows what the other guy was talking about.
The box might not be even called HD receiver!

Thanks everyone.
