When I was an LAU Student (BSc in Applied Computer Science) , they rejected my Financial Aid Application. Mainly they do an economical evaluation of your condition , what your parents work , how many brothers/sisters are enrolled. Since your have a brother , you have high chances to be granted one. If your parents work at the governmental sector (Military or NSSF whom give university allowances) you have no chance (and this what happened to me).
Note: They make with you background checks beside of the application (to verify the information if its genuine or no) - they ask your neighbors , see you house location , car driving etc..
I've known people with Ferraris and Porsches having their financial aid approved. Weird world.
