  • Dolby vs DTS:X Surround Gaming Headphones

I'm spending a good 130 dollars on new wireless headphones and I am confused between getting them with either Dolby Surround (meaning Corsair H2100, or Void or Logitech G930) or DTS:X based which only the Turtle Beach Stealth 450 offers within my price range.

The G933 which apparently is the best from Logitech is simply just too expensive.

I am leaning towards the Voids because they are the cheapest and have a good punch of battery life, but so does the Turtle Beach 450s

Here are the links, tell me what you guys advise.

Thanks!!
If you want my advice, get a Sennheiser HD 558 and an AntLion ModMic, you'll have a better mic and a way better pair of cans for about $130 (the Senns go for around $88 and the ModMic for $40-ish)
i dont recommend wireless headphones for gaming; static interference/battery charging hassles/low sound quality/almost no bass

i recommend the HyperX Cloud I or II with something to drive it such as Astro's Mixamp (great for all platforms such as consoles, desktop and laptop pcs, and even macs) or if you have a desktop get an Asus Xonar Phoebus

i'm an audiophile and i've tried a wide range of headphones. you definitely won't be disappointed with my recommended setup

seriously headphones unleash their potential with the proper amplification; fucken mindblowing!

I need the 7.1!

I can't go wired, I already have a wired headset. I want something to go walk around the house with not take it off every time I want to do something and has good virtual 7.1 surround to pinpoint enemies. I always get tangled with the wires mid game, I move a lot!

I don't care much about bass clarity and all that, the wireless headsets are good enough. I am no audiophile but I find the wireless solution very decent!

I had the stealth 400 from turtle beach it has good clarity and range but the problem is it was only compatible with the PS4, I returned them but I was so satisfied with their audio quality.

You're really overestimating 7.1 Surround Sound. BTW, Hardware Canucks have a good video about gaming vs real headphones.

I agree with everything he said, its just that I did try the 7.1 and it did give me that edge, not coz its actual 7.1 but it completely mutes the other side from where the noise is coming from so you wont think twice where the person is when you shoot. and when it comes to wireless there aren't many 2.4 ghz wireless headsets.
