  • Borderlinx alternative

I already shipped like eight times with Borderlinx/DHL. I never had any trouble with them before until my last shipment which was and still very troublesome. There were two shipments that didn't appear in my suite and I had to notify them about the missing items and provide them with the right information. It took them 2-3 working days to allocate the shipments. Problem solved about the missing items, and now trying to solve the wrong estimated value for the items which is extremely troublesome even after a lot of e-mails and phone calls. That's a lot of hassle and headache for one shipment.

I always provide them with the invoice containing the description of the item and the price, I usually cut the invoices and never gave them the complete ones before. They didn't change the values nor notify me that they need the complete invoices until I called them. That is the very first time they asked for the complete invoices. Now they want me to pay based on the grand total of the invoice including the U.S taxes and shipping fees, not based on the items subtotal. I had an argue with a lady from easy shop and she was trying to convince me that the customs usually look for the grand total. I told her that there is no way I am paying the Lebanese V.A.T for the U.S taxes and shipping fees, it doesn't make any sense. After a long argument, after I put some pressure on her and showed her I am not the idiot she thinks I am, she literally said "Okay you don't have to show the complete invoices for the customs". So she confirmed that they're trying to add the "grand total rip off scheme" to make me pay more for the customs. I insisted that the prices should be based on the subtotal value, then I'll release the shipment, and we agreed on that. However I am still not feeling okay about it, I think they will still try to find a way to rip me off.

I think that this will be my last shipment with them. I am trying to look for an alternative that works the same way as Borderlinx does. Anyone tried VIABOX or USGoBuy? Shop & Ship is out of the question because you can't consolidate your multiple shipments and release them under one parcel nor store them for 60 days. Correct me if I am wrong.

While I am writing this, I just received an e-mail from them confirming that the values are now changed. Logged in and now they're FINALLY right. That was just after one hour from the argument. Was it really that hard? I can see what they're trying to do.
When you fail a course in university, take it again with the same instructor.

stick to borderlinx man, now they know you, you left a proper mark.

BTW tax is usually calculated by 10%*[Cost of Goods+Freight+Insurance (if any)] you not responsible to pay 10% on the US tax, but the rest yes. Legally speaking just the COG+Shipment fees but since you are in Lebanon "wasta" played a role here
@hkbazzi, I'll decide whether I should stick with them or not when I'll see how much exactly they'll charge me. They're like... okay this customer is always dealing with us, he is satisfied with our services, so let's rip off that loyal customer.

The consumer isn't responsible for paying the Lebanese V.A.T/customs for the U.S tax/shipping fees, but they were trying to force me pay for it using the "complete invoices" excuse, which is ridiculous.
I have never been charged based on the invoice I send, it is always a magical number that I end up paying when the package arrives (always 10 to 20$ more than the one that appears on their site).
It is correct that Lebanese customs will look at the grand total, regardless if it contains shipping and US taxes. You are just arguing with the wrong people about it (DHL), as they dont really care and it is most of the times random.
I have been shipping with DHL easyshop and Aramex shop & ship for years, now I still use both depending on my needs and calculations, both have ups and downs but I doubt you will find better alternatives.
7 days later
So I received my shipment yesterday. I paid more than expected since computer parts aren't subject to Lebanese V.A.T and customs, still were implemented on a laptop HDD. I received two PS4 games with severe razor blade cuts allover. One had a cut where it left the plastic dangling from the case. The guys at Borderlinx open your packages to check your items, and they were too reckless with their trusty razor blade. Now I am looking for two empty PS4 game cases.

DHL told me that when the suite address is missing and being cut from the package, they won't risk adding the item to your suite using your name alone. Both packages have the USPS sticker on them, containing all the information [including my suite address] just like all the other ones and yet they lost two shipments and took them days to allocate them.

Their services is definitely deteriorating and I'll definitely keep on looking for a better alternative.
