Hello fellow geeks,
Is mechanical engineering or civil engineering good in lau?
Is it taken in Beirut or Byblos?
Is it hard to be accepted with a 14.5 average and 1200 on the SAT?
Are there mechanical engineering jobs in Lebanon?
Any additional info will be great
Cheers,

Quick Answers:
- Yes Very Good
- Both in Beirut and Byblos (the Heavy Bulk is in Byblos)
-Good Averages , You Will Be Accepted.
-Chances More towards : Architecture, Civil, Electrical. The Lebanese Market is saturated with engineers , Demand <Supply.
Good Luck

We had the minister of labor give us a small lecture a couple of months ago about the job market in Lebanon. Apparently there are 10,000 engineers registered at the syndicate and 7,000 of them are currently unemployed.

Engineers are a dime a dozen these days. The salaries are now closer to business major jobs, too. You should consider less popular branches of eng'g such as industrial or chemical.

Echoing what's already been said here: the engineeer market behaves very similarly to the computer science market in that the job prospects and demand for your skillset oscillates. When there's high demand, everyone starts majoring and suddenly there's an excess of supply and the market is completely saturated. If the market for engineers is bad in Lebanon today, I'm certain it will be better in 5 years.
