hello
i have a small toy electric bike for kids that is not working .
after checkup i realized it is the pedal ( when you press on the pedal it goes forward - and it keeps going as long as you press )
i opened it up and found the spring inside it to be damaged along with the metal stripes ( metal stripes connect to power the bike when you press )
this is why i am looking for something with the same capability to fix it :
- gives power as long as you click or press and cuts off once you stop
- i prefer if it is a foot switch ( something like this , but i am not sure it is momentary : http://www.ekt2.com/products/productdetails?ProductId=8bc32e9f-1bfd-45e2-9316-241aebf0fbd8 )
- small and durable

Please advise

Yes a foot switch is just like a regular switch, only bigger in size. In your case, I would say that yes this foot switch at Katranji would do the job. The trick here is knowing which wires to use. In your case, both the normally opened (NO) white wire and the common (COM) black wire (as per the yellow label on the back of the footswitch in one of the pictures on the link) should be connected to wherever the two lines on the old switch are connected to.

Now for curiosity's sake, I would be interested in having a pic of the old defected switch to see if it can be fixed (please don't judge but tinkering with stuff is kind of like a passion for me; I have more joy in actually fixing something than just replacing them). From what you described, you might have just dislocated the spring from its original position or broken the shaft along which it is installed (assuming that the problem lies within the ability of pressing down on the footswitch to make the bike move).

Hope that helps.
