hussam It shows a white screen (not even the LG logo) every time I turn on the monitor after a cold boot. At first this started happening only after long hours being powered off. Now the frequency is much higher and the screen goes white on resolution changes. It is still slightly less likely to happen if the screen has been on for long hours. At least it seems to recover faster when being powered on longer. I want to fix this before the screen completely dies. This is a 23" LG monitor. Anyone can recommend someone in dora/ashrafieh area who can look at this? I can go to hamra as well since I know that area very well. But dora/ashrafieh are easier especially with the rain fall. If all fails, I have a toshiba core i7 laptop unused in the closet and it is a lot faster than my desktop but missing a hard disk which I can replace so not all hope is lost even though I don't really like laptops. Ok, I'm blabbering on. Thanks in advance for the help.
hussam some searching resulted here http://neoxy-yx.blogspot.com/2011/12/tips-and-tricks-on-repairing-lcd.html it says high chance to be capacitor/voltage issues. I think that can be fixed. I just need to know where to take the screen :)
hussam There is a place near dora roundabout called sarkis electronics. This is where I took my screen. It is always cold these days so I was wearing a sweater when I wrapped tape around the LG monitor cardboard box. A small thread was stuck under the tape. Now I went to take the screen from the shop and I paid him. When I took it home, the thread was still under the tape! I knew he had not opened it. I tried it to make sure and guess what? it was still broken. I went back there and asked for my money back and confronted him that I knew he did not even open the cardboard box. He made a huge scene. Eventually I left and bought a brand new samsung screen from another shop.
