I own a laptop Hp pavilion dv6, i7 1st generation 6Gb ram and the graphics card is Ati5650
i used to overclock the graphics card, till one day, when i wake up and come to use my laptop the graphics card was dead
I leave my laptop overnight, on a daily basis to download what i need
However, after a while, the wifi card stopped functioning too
And now the laptop is not turning at all, i hit the button, it turns for less than a second and then it shuts down, and it repeat itself all the time till i remove the battery
I guess the laptop is dead and it is because of the motherboard maybe
Shall i buy a new motherboard? or could it be because of the power or something like that
Been 3 days now did not download anything and i need to fix it. I know that when a laptop is dead it is better to get a new but i cannot afford it now after i have gotten my 3k$ build, and i am not going to leave my beast pc to do some overnight downloads.
i was thinking if the motherboard is not cheap, maybe build a desktop especially as a download station, mini itx motherboard maybe

Some HP dv6 had overheating issues that caused the wifi to stop after ~1 year among other problems.
Can you boot into your BIOS and try to switch from the ATI (AMD) graphics to intel
Stygmata
is the charging light on ?
Satfoun
Yup tge charging light is on
The laptop does not boot at all
My laptop graphics card was damaged on june if i am not mistaken
And since then if i open a video or any game, the laptop would crash
As for now, the laptop does not boot at all, just for less tgan a second, and nothing appears om the screen.
EDIT: I contacted my local repair shop, he said it could cost atmax 180$ , or around 140$. So i guess that is not way too expensive.
I am never going to upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy S2 anytime soon haha

turn off the laptop
keep pressing the power button until you hear a beep ..then remove your finger and check if it boots

Could your laptop fan have got clogged with dust? It is common with laptops to have cooling problems if you leave them on all the time (especially if you smoke :) ) so maybe your CPU overheated or got damaged by the heat? Was your CPU running overclocked or at base frequency?
In any case if it doesn't pass the BIOS, then something is very wrong, yes, and you should, I guess, just get another one. Is it possible to flash the BIOS now?
If it passes the BIOS then it could be something with the hard drive or the OS. But 1 second seems to be a short time. No beep? Check out the LEDs, maybe they can tell you something.

My laptop is turned on from 12 to 8 everynight. No one is a smoker in my house . it is just, maybe it got hit by thunder?!
The previous night of the accident there was a light thunderstorm, tho nothing in my house got affected so i doubt it is because of the thunder.
Usually when i hit the power on, the fan starts at max speed and then decrease, all laptops start up like that i guess.
As for my laptop, when i hit the power on, the Hp logo lights up and the fan start to spin and then POUF, it turns off. It is LESS than a second. No led light gave me a clue. the screen does not even turn on. I mean it does not even start to reach anything. That is why i am saying a dead motherboard

Or something in the power supply?

Check if the screen is working, does it light up anything at all?
Take away the HDD/SSD and test it on another PC, to see if it's a problem from that.
Take out the battery, charge it separately, and turn on your PC with the battery alone.
Tell us the results.
