  • Need help for a gaming/video editing PC with tough performance.

Hi there, my friend asked me to give him an advice on good pc specs keeping in mind that it shouldn't be too expensive.

i've been away from this domain for a while, i can do my research and catch up with the market latest tech, but i thought why dont ask the pro's here :)

so please give me your advice for a good pc between 1k and 1.5k (including all peripherals, keyboard, mouse, speakers or headphones, etc ...)

and thanks in advance
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K ($342 @PCandParts)
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Contac 21 ($26.4 @Macrotronics)
Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait ($142 @PCandParts)
Memory: HyperX Fury White 8GB 1866MHz ($47 @PCandParts)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB ($115 @PCandParts)
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB ($57 @PCandParts)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 380 2GB ($229 @PCandParts)
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 Combat ($90 @PCandParts)
Power Supply: Cooler Master V750M ($144 @PCandParts)
Total: $1311.64 (incl. VAT)
Add to that an LG 24MP56HQ for $169, Logitech MK120 for $22, a HyperX Skyn for $9 and a HyperX Cloud Core for $56 (all five from PCandParts) which will bring you to a grand total of $1593.24 including VAT.

This build is pretty good, if you want it to be strictly under $1500 drop down the SSD. You can drop down the i7 in favor of an i5 although it's not as good if you're video editing.
get the i7-4790 instead of the i7-4790K , it is 40 $ cheaper .. i am sure your friend will not overclock it .
also the power supply is a bit overrated .. check the Inwin Power Man 750 750W PSU ..it is for 99$ + tva and has even thermostatic fan ( so i can run fanless with smaller loads )

do not give up the ssd ! for video edition it is the life of the machine
thank you guys for your help :)

so if i got the same specs but with an i7-4790 and an inwin 750w psu instead, i'll be saving ~ 85 bucks so it will be closer to the price tag of 1500 USD

now my question is, is this the best bang for my bucks ?

any other opinions / recommendations ?

every other change in this budget range will have minimal effect .

Go with a cheaper motherboard if you're going with the i7 4790, something like a MSI H97 PC Mate, ASUS H81M V3 or ASUS B85M-G.

InWin aren't the most trusted when it comes to power supplies, their OEM, PowerMan, is pretty bad compared to the V750M's OEM, Enhance. The V750M is also recommended by Jonnyguru and has a rating of 9.4.

EDIT: the PowerMan also doesn't have any reviews, so I recommend against it.
Just wait a month, the skylake series will be out here and the prices of the actual CPU (and their respective mobos) will decrease

Jonnyguru reviewed the poweman 600 watt and got 8.2

It's a 2008 unit. Personally, I'd prefer paying $45 more and get a semi-modular and practically new PSU that has sleeeved cables, but that OP's choice.

Dropping the ssd with this processor won't let him enjoy the processor's full speed on his pc
can one replace

Cooler Master RS750-AMAAG1 V750 80 Plus Gold Semi-Modular (90% efficiency)

with

Cooler Master RS700-ACABB1 B700W Ver.2 700W PSU (85% efficiency)

for the same build above ?

its a 65$ difference I would like to cut from my budget.
@Houssam

-Go with the Coolmaster V750M Series it's a Tier 1 PSU with Seasonic Parts. Compared to the Inwin Powerman , its " ashes to ashes and dust to dust"

-SSD is a highly desirable even a 128GB One for the OS to be installed ion it go with a Samsung EVO or Crucial MX 100 (an MLC SSD).

-Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 380 2GB ($229 @PCandParts) - Video Editing is a "So So" Situation on this Graphic Card.

-Do not forget to include the OS in your final price.

He can get a Windows licence for cheap from r/MicrosoftSoftwareSwap, it'll save him $60, and it's legit.

Don't do it, the B700 is made for the most basic builds, it's in no way a good idea to put it in a high-end system, paying $66 is nothing compared to potentially paying $1300 because your PSU destroyed your PC, as PSUs tend to take something with then when they eventually die, unless they're high-end units that simply died from brownouts or from long use.

Never cheap out on the power supply! You don't want to learn this the hard way.

Really depends what video editing software will be used. Since he's using a PC, it will be either Adobe Premier or Sony Vegas I guess. If he needs OpenCL, then go with AMD. If CUDA, then go with Nvidia.
Thqnk you guys for the feedback, i really appreciate it
