hello
i have an acer aspire s5 that comes with 2x2GB DDR3-1333 (Maximum 4GB) soldered to motherboard .
the system is only seeing 800 MB , i checked everything from virtual memory to architecture in vain
the computer shows it has 4 GB Ram but only 800 MB usable .
I tried to change the rams but they are soldered , can i heat the motherboard ? what do you think ?
Thank you
Try the normal boot option in the bios "not a fast boot option" and see how much ram the bios checks during post.

or use a bootable memtest to check your ram.

if it's 4GB then it's OS related, if it's 800MB it's a hardware problem, if you have free so-dimm slots, cut the power line of the built-in rams and use external sticks.

the system state it has 4 GB but only 800 MB usable .
I will try to check them with memtest
Memtest showed no error
Formatted with win7 32bit ..same thing
In 64 bit the usable ram is 3.7 GB
4 days later
It's because windows 32 has some limitations when it comesto ram

4GB RAM with 3.7GB usable is a normal case because 256MB were allocated by your system as VRAM

i know this , but also 32bit windows should be able to use more than 800 MB ..
why did i need 64bit for it to use more than that ? there is something wrong
