Hello everyone
suddenly both my intel centrino wireless n 2230 , and my Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller , stopped working,i tried every solution possible online and nothing worked, so my last resort is backing up my hardrive and reinstalling windows. so here is my question:
I have a 128 GB SSD on which windows is installed and a 1 TB HDD on which my files are stored, is it possible to backup the data saved on the SSD on the HDD reinstall windows on the SSD and then restore the data from the HDD?
thanks
Yes it is possible, just copy - paste files and you're done...

Did you try uninstalling all the drivers and re-install? Drivers are up to date? Are you under which windows version?
the problem started with windows 7 but by uninstalling the drivers then reinstalling ( they were up to date) it was fixed, then i upgraded to windows 10, with the rumors of it detecting pirated games and disabling them and with the lack of privacy in it, i needed a small reason to go back to windows 7, this problem showed up again on windows 10, i went back to windows 7 hoping it would be solved, but it didn't, this time i uninstalled the drivers and tried to reinstall them but with no hope windows was not able to download the drivers, and me installing them manually gave me back the same problem, i tried driver toolkit, and tried intel driver update utility, tried various online solutions, and nothing worked, after all that i lost hope and decided to do a factory reset for windows, but i did not have an external HDD to back up my data, tried to look for alternatives of me buying one, and here i decided to ask this question.
( the above is the details of what happened if that helps you help me solve my problem)
thank you and much appreciated.
I am a bit confused. Are you on a laptop or desktop pc?
If you are on a laptop put performance on max for both card in power management, uncheck "let this device turn of to save power.."
If you have an option for auto-disabling wifi when you plug in an ethernet cable it may causes a problem(Did the problem started when you have plugged an ethernet?)
On both case if you're using a laptop/desktop check if the bios is up to date also.
I am on a laptop, i don't think the problem is related with power management it's a driver problem, no the problem did not start when i plugged an ethernet cable, in device manger both adapters has the following message:
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Are the network adapters visible in network and sharing software? can you see the network icon on system tray?
nope nothing is vidible
Well then I am not sure what's going on..
Maybe it's a corrupted registry problem, if you want google "network adapter problem registry" and manually delete all entries then re-install driver.(Unless you've tried that approach)
If i were you I'd try using an external usb adapter to see if the problem is something related to windows itself(hardware compatibility).
Looks like a mismatched driver and registry issue
@Stygmata I'm backing up my hardrive so i would do a factory reset to my windows, do you have a simpler solution for the mismatched driver and registry problem ( assuming that's the issue i'm facing)?
thank you
Go to run-> regedit
From the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree remove the following subkeys:

\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\adapter

\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards# (If only one adapter is loaded, # will be 1)

\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\adapter
Quit Registry Editor and reboot.

Then reinstall newest drivers
I'll try that the next time this problem happens, I'm in the process of doing a factory reset.
