  • What are you reading right now?

so there is a topic about what are you playing, what are you listening and what are you watching. I didn't find a topic about what are you reading, so i thought i should start one.

I will start with myself:

(I cannot commit to only one book i have to start with more than one book and read them depending on my mood)

mathematics: calculus of variation gelfand
theology: islam and christianity between science and secterianism mohammad abdo
risalat al tawhid also mohamad abdo
physics: classical mechanics landau and lifshitz ( I'm a physics major so there is a couple of books that I ordered and I will start reading them as soon as they arrive, mainly lectures on quantum mechanics by paul dirac, and relativity the special and the general theory by albert einstein.)
History: al muqadimah ibn khaldun
biology: on the origin of species charles darwin.

Future readings:
The God delusion richard dawkings
God's undertaker john lennox
a couple of physics books mainly on statistical thermodynamics, and on electrodynamics.
sorry for not capitalizing the names of the authors,
share your book list, i need suggestion for future readings.
You are reading all of those at the same time? That's good. I can't read more than one or two at most; I find myself forgetting what I've read if I read too many different books.

I'm reading Roman History by Cassius Dio. It's purely a historical account and can get very boring very fast if you don't like history.
Good thing to see some fellow bookworms here.

I'm currently reading Beyond Good and Evil by Nietzsche, What is Property by Proudhon and Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism by Lenin.
I'm currently rereading 1984 by George Orwell since I first read it a long time ago and felt like picking it up again. Future reads: Legend by Marie Lu ( it's a distopian trilogy that a friend recommended).
I also enjoy mangas a lot, just finished Berserker, anyone else a manga fan ?

I'll ignore the fact that you're reading a George Orwell novel, but you seem to like dystopian novels, I recommend you read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.

1984 and brave new world are both wonderful books, with completely opposite ideas of how corrupt the world will become...check this out:

edit: I also highly recommend reading "animal farm" by George Orwell
I'm currently reading A Song of Ice and Fire series, just started with A Clash of Kings.
Future read: Inferno by Dan Brown

The Diary of Ann Frank
Not an easy read - not the book in itself, but due to the circumstances of the book.
It's also a bit voyeuristic - it was meant to be a private diary, and it's one of the most read books.
A bit sad but captivating and I guess worth reading after all.

Just thought about sharing this video. It is always amazing to find out that some of the truth you discovered along your life journey has been proclaimed by a philosopher before your time.

Gurdjieff - The fourth way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nljcpS62cg
Just finished the Silmarillion, very confusing book if you're not looking at the map the whole time and even taking notes seems necessary.

Now reading Fyodor Dostoyevsky's "The Brothers Karamazov". Great book so far.

Future reads: Genèse du Liban Moderne 1711-1864 by Antoine Sfeir

I finished Artificial Intelligence a Modern Approach two weeks ago. The most exciting thing I am reading currently is "The art of thinking clearly". But I am looking forward to starting a book on investment science.
