Since Skylake-K and Z170 motherboards are most probably launching on Wednesday I thought I'd summarize all what we know about Skylake and H110 and H/Z170 motherboards:
-Skylake has a 10% boost in IPC compared to Broadwell which in turn has a 5% IPC boost over Haswell, if you have Ivy Bridge or Haswell the upgrade is not worth it, if you have Sandy Bridge it's kinda worth it if you have one of the locked CPUs;
-Skylake supports dual-channel DDR4 and DDR3L;
-Skylake CPUs have 20 PCIe lanes while Haswell has 16 and the i7 5820K has 28, so you'll be able to CrossFire (with both GPUs bein 8x/8x) or SLI, while still being able to use a PCIe-based SSD;
-Skylake-K i7s and i5s consume 95W, no word about if non-T and non-S locked i5s and i7s will consume 95W, 88W or 85W;
-Skylake-K CPUs do not come with stock coolers;
-Skylake i3s and Pentiums are launching in September;
-Z170 motherboards mostly have 288-pin (DDR4) slots and not DDR3 while H170 and H110 motherboards mostly have 240-pin (DDR3) slots;
-Most, if not all, Z170 mobos hae M.2 slots;
-Most motherboard manufacturers have adopted new color schemes in their boards, ASRock have reverted back to black and gold (sadly, no more good black and blue boards) for their Pro and Extreme while their Fatal1ty are still black and red, ASUS have switched to black and white (strikingly similar to their X99 boards) for their mainstream boards and gray and red (NO MORE BLACK AND RED BOARDS !) for their ROG boards and Gigabyte to white, black and red for their G1 Gaming boards;
-Most LGA 1151 motherboards have onboard USB 3.1 and sone higher-end boards have USB Type-C;
To finish off, here is the box art of Skylake-K CPUs:
