Hello everyone
I bought this UPS from Pcandparts :MGE Eaton 5E Essential Plus 5E1500iUSB 1500VA Line Interactive PM w/ AVR
The thing is it has a fan that does not stop
I tried the software on pc but it does not control the speed of the fan
I disconnected it but when i plugged it the ups started to beep so i did not even try to turn it off
If the ups is on or off as long as it is plugged in the fan is spinning
Shall i get a new fan and place it in it? And if so from where i should buy a 6mm fan

I have always found all fan sizes at "Boujikian" in Dora. Take the fan with you, if you can, to make sure you get the correct replacement.

There is something awkward when i plug it in, i see some strange electricity realted things
Like someone the switch of the light in the kitchen when it is switched either ways, my monitor suddenly go black. The bass in the stereo started doig strange sound. Only when i plug it in either it is on or off
Is it related to my electricity or this ups is faulty or something?!

sounds like a cheap ups. you have to find out what causes the ups to beep when you unplug the fan. does it check the rpm, or does it just check the resistance? yes a bigger fan or no fan at all, if you ventilate the case well would be better.

Could be either a faulty UPS or a cheap one. Some UPS models have their fans turned on all the time like the APC ones and they are pretty loud. Disconnecting the fan could damage the components in the ups and eventually fry them (high probability in this time of year). The loud sounds coming from the ups could be normal also as they are the relays on the board switching from battery mode to AC mode and also switching to charging mode. The sound from the bass stereo is somewhat normal, speakers can relay some feedback and do strange noises when are powered by a UPS.
Personally i would say exchange it for a fanless UPS like the PCE brand or Invo.
Satfoun
Funny i can not exchange it as the 5 days period have passed
Although i thought that this brand is a good one.
Yet is it safe to run my pc without a ups?!

I have done this for some time. It gets very annoying sometimes if you want to leave the PC for some long task (downloading a movie, recovering data, whatever) as it will inevitably reboot and ruin your task.
If you add a surge protector on the power, and on the LAN cable too, if you have one (yes, happens, especially in winter - during storms), then you should be safe.

I heard good things about him from my father, wonder if he has silent120mm fans

I have an Eaton online UPS and its fans can get pretty loud. At first I thought it was some kind of issue but it turns out that's how the UPS is designed to work. The fans are supposed to be always on to cool the components. It can get annoying when the load on it increases slightly (which happens regularly due to my PC sometimes drawing more power when doing some CPU/GPU processing) since the fans start cycling between slower and faster RPMs.
In your case, since you have a line interactive UPS, it depends on the model. Some of them will have the fans kick in when charging or in heavy load scenarios. If during PC standby the fan is humming at relatively low RPMs then it might be normal. When researching my problem with the online UPS I remember reading a response from an Eaton employee stating that an online UPS is not supposed to used in homes. It's designed for office environments where noise typically isn't an issue. So the employee suggested using a line interactive UPS since they have quieter fans.
By the way, Eaton is a reputable company and they have high quality products. So I suggest looking into that specific model just to make sure since it's very possible that it's working normally.

If you don't want to mess with the internals of the UPS try getting a picnic fridge. Get one that is big enough to house the ups and make some cut outs for wires and airflow and you're set.
Other solutions might include creating your own sound proof box. Use MDF as the sound proof material.
Other suggestion is try to place the UPS in another room and route cables through the wall towards your setup.
Finally if all is not possible PM me I'll try to help. My friend and I own the same UPS.

not sure if you still have the ups with you or not, i have the same one which i got recently, yes it is loud! it also beeps for me when you install another one or unplug it, what i did is install a resistor to the fan and it is now very silent, it doesn't heat up at all so don't worry about it, just make sure you don't make it too slow because then the fan would stop at times and would need a finger push to start turning again.
its a very respectable brand btw, do not sell it!
Satfoun
I didnt sell it and i still have it but its still in box
So which resistor you used? if you may tell
shant
Honestly i can't remember the value, i think it was between 50 and 100 ohm, you could easily calculate this off the power consumption of the fan which should be written on the sticker once you open it.

I think I have the same UPS as yours. Maybe I have the 1600 or 1800VA but still, same. It does have some fan noise from time to time, but not always for sure. It's an excellent UPS, I've had it for years and it's been very, very reliable. If it's always on there's something wrong.
Satfoun
Well yeah it stays on all the time
Anyway in my college they are using same UPS everywhere, but u cant notice the fan being loud because of course there is the students noise and big classes, not like my close place i have my pc setup
i will try to put a resistor

Guys I have a 2200va ups, focus brand.
The fan on that thing is so loud.
Today I decided to change it so ordered a new fan from ekt.
They're the same size, same voltage and same amperage.
But when I plug the new fan, it's not working.
The fan of the ups itself is working.
Tried the new fan on my pc, it is working.
So why the new one isn't working on the ups?
anayman_k7
not sure if it is applicable here but are the fan voltage controlled or PWM controlled? Is there any difference in the connectors between the 2 fans?
AVOlio
Figured it out.
Turns out that the orientation of the two pins were wrong in each fan.
red & black cables (im guessing positive and negative).
On the original fan, the red was on the right and black on the left, it was the opposite on the new fan which is why it wasn't working.
I didn't want to risk removing the cables themselves from their little "pin box?", cause i might have damaged the pins.
What i did was i sawed off the fan/pin enclosure on the board of the ups itself so the pin box of the fan would fit when i insert it in an opposite side than how its designed.
result: Much quieter fan noise !
