I'm Lebanese, but living and working in the US for many years. My company designs lighting control systems that are sold/installed internationally.
One of our installations is in a commercial building in Beirut. They are having a complex electrical problem that requires advanced troubleshooting with an oscilloscope on a slow wired (1200bps) signal (its a public protocol called DALI).
We are going to send a field service engineer from our Dubai office there, but our Dubai Field Service personnel are not equipped with oscilloscopes.
I was asked to figure out where in Beirut our arriving field service engineer could buy or rent an oscilloscope. It has to have a real time USB or RS-232 interface to a PC so that our engineers here in the US can remotely monitor the signals (through remote desktop) as our field service engineer tests them with the scope. It can be a simple USB scope (the ones that only work through PC software), or a standard standalone scope (as long as it has a -preferably real time - PC interface). Price is not important (within reason).
Does anyone know of somewhere in Beirut that sells scopes, or knows someone who would know (such as a lab instructor at AUB/LAU/USJ/LU/NDU/etc.)?
