Hi guys, not long ago I changed my ISP from a miserable internet by cable provider to another.
As he was doing the new configurations for the SXT Microtik machine, I started complaining about the way the other ISP was providing internet which was by basically using 2 DSL accounts (8 Mbps each) and sharing the internet between 200+ subscribers in Zgharta's region (More than 20 villages and 4 cities).
Anyway, to show himself superior, this one has told me that he gets his internet Via Dish (Satellites) straight from Russia.
I stood there for a second like wtf is this guy talking about.
I asked no more further questions cause after 1 hour of sweating and swearing on nonsense sh!ts he failed to put me on a DHCP configuration and put a PPOE one (and started blaming the Tenda's router and changed its IP 10 times while trying random stuffs) and there I realised how qualified he is for his job, I mean I can tell you guys 1000 ways he doesn't have an a idea what he is doing. (Ex: I can give you a 0ms ping - Ogero's ping to the game you are talking about is fake. - Nater yefta7oule men beirut.)
So, can you please tell me if it's even possible to get internet like that? Or more important is it legal? And why everything single janitor and electrician has to provide internet in my area?

It is possible and illegal as far as i know.
And one more thing, it is not like the right man in the right place in all domains here, so i guess this won't be new.
But i don't get it, if you don't like the cable guys why subscribe to his connection in first place.
If you don't like the connection, you could try and get a wireless broadband from wise or connect.net.lb
Good luck

First of all, Connect doesn't have a coverage in my area, and the ping on wise is pretty bad as I heard here and there.
And second and the most important, I don't have enough money to buy their overpriced machines when the first thing they tell you is that they can't guarantee a good connection because it depends on many things..
Finally, I don't hate cable guys it's not something personal, if you're living in DSL paradise, well I'm not. It's a constant 20KBps download speed with random disconnections and a high ping.. For just 50$.

Actually i am with a cable guy, it is not that great and not that bad. It is good for some light gaming and everyday usage, plus a download from a week to another.
My cable guy however is a reseller.
Go to ping.eu then click who-is section then your ip,and copy the text for us, i don't think you have satellite internet but i could be wrong.

Thank you for tryig to help.
At the moment I am not home but I will check it ASAP.

If they caught you using 2 way satellite internet you will be jailed and maybe convicted a espionage for israel be careful
I know someone happened with* him in Baalbek
BetterGoogleIt
I'm not the one setting the satellite, I'm just an internet subscriber.
But my ISP isn't getting his connection from Ogero (which is the main door for everything), what confuses me is that how can the government let him do that? Imagine all the online "crimes" (jara2em ma3loumetiye) you can do without the lebanese government knowing it's you, or even knowing it's from Lebanon.
NuclearVision
As i said i doubt it's satellite, most cable guys just resell internet via visp or sodetel, it's legal and gives less headaches.
xAzarian
yes it is totally possible, I sometimes had a russian IP when I was subbed to a cable guy before switching to connect. Nearly 10 years passed and still no DSL where I live.
BetterGoogleIt
Mine is French but with the other one it was Turkish.
Tell me about the ping and stability over Connect.
In my case, it's been exactly 1 year without the "box" for DSL.

Yes it is possible and its legal if he only uses download via sat and upload via ogero

To my knowledge, the ministry, through Ogero, has a monopoly on International bandwidth and infrastructure. Any ISP that sources its bandwidth other than from ogero, even if it's from a legal ISP like IDM, is illegal.
That's theoretically, but practically like for the Dish and Moteur, there's no clampdown on other internet sources whether via satellite, microwave or from nearby countries (Unless it's Israel like with the Hweis Brothers case).

Here in mtein the ping of cs go is hard too i get lags a lot

Hi again, I know it's been a long time since I posted this thread but I had to wait till I get back to the city to check ping.eu and stuffs.
First of all, I noticed that the internet connection got better (talking about ping, the down and up are low because I chose the smallest account since I'm not home in summer). The ping to EUW servers was 89-120 without random disconnections and stuffs.
I noticed that my IP has changed and it became Lebanese, I entered to ping.eu and checked the source of my internet, it comes from an ISP called Net360 from tripoli al-tal, it's the same as my old cable provider, it seems like all of them are taking their internet from the same ISP just what differs between them is the service and the coverage.
I decided to talk to my cable provider via whatsapp (yeah we talk regularly he wants more consumers and I want a good internet so...) and I told him that the ping is suddenly better than before and it seems like the new source of internet is way better than the old one (via dish??).
He told me like yeah bro it's a new full fiber optic (?) connection and his bandwidth is 40Mbps men el dawle.
