hello,

long story short my lenovo g510 was working normally, went to the bathroom, came back to find no output on the screen but the laptop still turned on, tried restarting it but nothing worked, it does turn on but with no screen output, i tried it on an external monitor and it works... i took it to the shop and they told me that they tried changing the ram, tried a new screen... nothing worked, he told me that the motherboard is fried and i need a new one(but actually advised me not to because it's as expensive as buying a new laptop)

my question is: if the motherboard is fried how does it turn on ? also if that's not the case what could be wrong?
If you tried an external monitor and it worked, then the issue is probably between your motherboard and screen, or the screen itself. Now I'm no expert in this issue, but that's the logical path you would go through. I don't know what RAM has to do with any of this though... Better check if they "swapped" your RAM for something other than the original. Anyways, I think the issue is that they did not have a compatible screen, try another shop.
thanks, for your fast reply, but this is the second shop i've tried, the first told me it's a problem with the vga extender to the monitor(or something like that, but he couldn't fix it because the laptop was missing screws and if he took it apart he couldn't get it back together :p)
so naturally i disregarded him and took it to another shop.Do you know of a shop i could take it to ?
I'm sorry, not really. Though if I were to say what the exact problem was without further information,I would have stated the exact problem as the first shop you went to. Try contacting pcandparts if they fix laptops, that would be my best option. I'm sorry I can't help more than that... Keep us posted on how it goes and good luck.
I am currently using the laptop!(on an external monitor), it has to be something simple.. maybe i'll try reinstalling amd drivers, maybe that will help
Wow, that store must be smart, how come the mobo is damaged, and PC runs NORMALLY on an external screen?

Cause 70% of these shops know shit about computers let alone think logically. The best they can do is sell you a mouse.
