  • Get Wifi password using wifi router and ip?

Hi!
So some of my neighbor hacked my wifi network months ago by using the tplink ip and stock username and password (admin admin).
Like a noob I forgot to change them back then.
So how this dude hacked my router?
I mean which hacing software you have to use to get access to the router using only ip address and the usual admin admin?
What encryption were you using? WEP? If that, it is very easy to decrypt the password. Once he has a connection to your router and you have enabled remote control on that router without changing the username and pass, he can just enter the stock information that anyone can find on the internet and he has access to all your settings.
No always was WPA , but knowing the router ip and username/password is not enough if he has a hacking tool to access the router from ip even without the wifi password?
The router probably exposes an admin interface that is accessed through HTTP, Telnet or SSH. He used the default credentials to log into that area. From there he retrieved the WPA key of your WLAN (some vendors have it there in plain text).

Yes exactly!
But how can he access the http ip address if he doesn't have the wifi password in the first place? I mean to access the http address of the router then he's already on the network OR he is using a hacking software letting him go directly to the router address without passinf by the wifi credentials, it's the software name I want to know about
He probably had access to your phone/laptop/computer for a little while and got them off you or really just any device connected to the network.
I meant the router's external IP, the IP assigned by your ISP. Not the internal one (192.168.0.0/16, 10.0.0.0/16).

How the hell can he know what's my internet ip?
And Lebanese ADSL ips are not shared?

Unless he has a VPS and sent you a reverse tcp payload and had access to your pc :p Ok we can stop dreaming now... He probably had access to some device already connected to your router somehow.
I have a TP-Link router, when you first log in you will see something like that http://prntscr.com/7lvtzd
Just copy the default gateway, add a :8080 and you will connet to your router
Now what you can actually do is change the last 2 numbers till you find your neighbor
Maybe yours was like right next to him and got lucky
If he has no connection to your router he cant hack it.
With the right amount of time any password can be hacked specially if he has good coverage from your Wireless.
He can't have access to your router from the internet unless you have a public IP which I doubt it , or you are on an old Cable provider network.

I think he hacked your Wifi password then logged in to your router using default password.
My advice :
Make the router management page accessible by LAN only (so you must be plugged to access )
Make the SSID hidden , and connect to it manually.
Keep checking client list from the router page to make sure no unwanted devices are connected.
Bind the mac address of the devices you want connected manually so only them can connect.

Good luck

I changed the default username an password of my tplink back then but your login by LAN only is even better.
I used to be able to ban ips from device I don't know on my old speedtouch.
Now I want to hack my neighbor router at the mountain as I don't have internet there, that's why I am interested to know if there is a software than can let you access to the router using its default ip address, then default username and password.
In Lebanon we have either tplink, speedtouch or Lynksis
12 days later
he can't hack router without access to you wifi network

the way that most users do that is using backtrack or kali linux operating system with hacking tools (you can google those to know more).

anyway to protect your self you can :

1- change username/password for your router config page

2- change username/password for your network

3- you can hide your network (go to wireless settings -> un check "Enable SSID Broadcast" )

4- To improve the security of your Wi-Fi network, strongly consider enabling and using MAC address filtering (Wireless--> Wireless MAC Filtering) .

all regards

if it existed, and i doubt it does, it would cost more than installing a dsl service.
Its just plain simple, he had your password to be able to talk about default ip,user, password. He probably used your phone or your friends phone.
You can't use those unless connected to the router.

Your router probably supports WPS and it’s likely enabled by default this is an insecure feature that makes your wireless network more vulnerable to attack.
