  • Going to Tyre (Sour) for the first time

So I decided to visit the famous city in the south, I have never been there so i guess i might ask fellow geeks who have visited it a few questions before I go.

I need recommendations on places to visit, I mainly want to see the beaches, the fish restaurants and of-course the cultural heritage sites.
Where should I begin ?
Should I use google maps ?
Are there directions for the cultural sites and the beaches ?
What are the best fish restaurants there ?
How clean are the beaches? I heard they have very clean beaches so I may need your input also
Are there old souks ? are they easily accessible ?
Any other things you recommend me to do ?

Thanks for all the replies
The beaches are very clean.
I would recomend you to go to turquoise resort they have an amazing pool and beach view.
You can also go to the rest house it is inside tyre so you don't need to keep driving.
For the fish restaurant visit la playa.
You can visit the old romanian ruins they are amazing.
You can also visit the general park.
Hey Flakk,
You should check out these videos.

Visiting Tyre "Sour", One of Lebanon's Most Beautiful Cities

I think they are both the same video, but one is longer than the other, so there might be some extra stuff there.

I have watched every video that this guy makes, and sometimes i had the feeling of how lucky i am to be in a rich and beautiful country like Lebanon (Rich in food, and culinary diversity, not in money ) and for a moment i feel proud to be living here and being lebanese, oh and i also get so hungry and crave for the foods he is showing each and every time i watch the videos.
But then, after that brief moment, the other bad/un-organized side of lebanon comes to my mind, and i start swearing the shit out of this country again. xD
You can use maps to get direction but sour is a small city you can ask anyone about a place and they'll show you the way.
About the souk there's one but I wouldn't recommend going there.
There is a place called "kharab" at the shore it's an amazing place for pictures but I don't recommend swiming there (lots of rocks in the water)

For restaurants he should go to Hara, La Playa's a good place but nothing beats the sea food restaurants of Hara, there's also a lot of great places to see in Hara.

Haha! I dont want to siege tyre for 7 months and fail miserably. I know he was finally able to conquer the city, but the tyrians really gave him a hard time doing so!
