Hi Dears,

I suggest to create a new topic dedicated to talk about cars and their problems.

I'm going to change my car rims and tires within few days, so i need your opinions.

I have a Mercedes Benz W210, E230 1997 European, current wheel size is : 215/65R16, and i don't feel a smooth ride, as well as, my suspension system performance is horrible and need some maintenance, so i'm thinking of minus sizing my wheels to 15"(Standard size of such cars), maybe they will decrease the pressure on suspension system.

So what do you think guys ? it is feasible ??
the suspension is most likely rusted "or at least wore out" .. needs an oil bath "extend life span by few months to a year" or a total change "which is better" after you finish your maintenance i advice you to check and change all the oils in the car "motor oil, brake oil, and hydraulic oil".

Thank you for Reply, you get me wrong, i don't expect a good suspension from only changing the wheels, i was meaning i want to change the suspension parts + minus sizing the wheels to lengthening the suspension parts age in the future, my bad sorry.
i would stick to the 16" ..15" is too small

I've changed the Rims yesterday to 15" with P205/65R15 tires, and i can't tell how much the ride smoothness was significant and amazing, even with bad shock abs. I agree with you in sticking with 16" in term of style n' look, and i have to confess, my new 15" look worst than the old 16", but now i prefer the advantage of smooth ride over the good looking.

as the wheel gets larger the tire must have a smaller (shorter) sidewall, in order to keep the overall outside diameter the same. The shorter the sidewall, the better a car will handle, due to less lateral stretch but the trade off is that the ride will be rougher, because there is less air space between the tread and the wheel to absorb the bumps in the road.

consumption and braking wise there is minimal difference .
keep in mind that 16inch tires are harder to find than the 17s and the 15inch .. also you need to test with your new suspension .
