hello every one,
I have a raspberry pi B+ and want to connect it to an old tv that does not support HDMI.
i have tried the following:
-buying an RCA cable: non of the RCAs that i bought worked since all of them have their ground on the sleeve and i need it to be on the second ring( in the TRRS jack) tried everywhere to find such a cable and i'm starting to think of it as a unicorn cable. ( shops that i asked are: katranji, nino, pcandparts almost all the electronics shops on mazeraa street)
-buying an HDMI to VGA cable: after i bought the cable i figured that this cannot work since i need some circuitry to transform an analog signal to a digital signal.
- HDMI to VGA converter: too expensive
ideas to try: rewiring the ending of the jack of an RCA cable by sticking a " fishé" on the jack ( credits to katranji's staff, of whom i got mixed signals on whether this will work or not some say yes some say no).
so i ask for your expertise on the following:
-where i could buy a 3.5mm jack to RCA that has the correct wiring for raspberry pi (
http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2014/07/raspberry-pi-model-b-3-5mm-audiovideo-jack/ in the middle of the page there is a picture that shows the correct wiring)
- if a simple HDMI toVGA converter like this one
http://www.ekt2.com/products/productdetails?ProductId=3184e755-df5e-47ac-bb3c-35b4c690a940 work on raspberry pi ?if yes where to buy it from ( not available in katranji until next month) and i need it to be as sheap.
- if a rewiring of the regular jack to rca cable would work
- any other ideas on how i could connect my pi to screen that only takes in vga or rca.
final note: i dont care about the sound only interrested in video.
thank you all for your help.
