BTW, is there a way to close this thread? I talked with my dad and he rejected it, telling me to be modest and that I'll miss the methodology of solving questions.
This is one thing that I had in mind when I was saying that this would not be an "easy way out", but on the opposite, the difficult option, for those who perceived this idea as just "an easy way out".
Regarding closing the threads admins/mods can do it but I don't the need to, it will probably just "die off" like most threads, and I think that pretty much everyone have given their opinion :) I guess the mods will agree with me. If you really want the thread to be closed talk to one of them.
No, there's no need to close it. I just thought it'd be appropriate if the matter's settled. Thanks for everything. :)

Well, what can I say? Philosophy can't be understood. It's all contradictions after contradictions, at least from the papers we take to memorize. You can't put your own opinion which can be philosophical or else you won't get any grades no matter whether you have sound arguments or not. Basically, what we're doing is memorizing what other philosophers (psychologists actually) said. We learn their arguments which sound blatantly stupid at times. Take this example which shows how illogical philosophy is, at least in school. A theory on tendencies states that all our tendencies are actions. Now, the refutation we have to learn. "If all our tendencies were actions, then all or actions would be tendencies, which is false." Huh? Since when did logic say that if p implies q then q implies p? If you explain this, I'll honestly be grateful. I'll start believing that the philosophy we take in school is logical. Also, tell me why philosophy isn't memorization if all we do is memorize is their opinions without any chance at expressing which we agree with and present our own arguments. As for English, I'm quite good at it. I don't study that and I get the best grades in class, or the second best at minimum. As for studies on politics, I'd like to say that I don't intend on getting into political life, neither electing nor getting elected. I'll tell you what we take. We take that foreigners in good positions outside are advantages to Lebanese and Arab causes. That's a joke for the most part, except in rare cases. Also, I'd like that you tell me how those MANY people who learned civics in school but didn't major in anything great changed anything in Lebanon. What about "l7asane lniyebeyye"? Can I change that? Can you? No. It all sounds very meaningless to me. By the way, who told you I was terrible at philosophy? I just said I hated it, doesn't mean I'm terrible at it. I get about 14-15/20, which is honestly satisfactory when it comes to such a subject. As for memorizing in physics and engineering, I'm inclined to believe that there are concepts you understand and that it's not all about rote memorization.
I don't understand that either. Maybe your teacher is a dumbass. Also all philosophy done correctly is necessarily logical. Logic is the bread and butter of philosophy. Perhaps you have a wrong perception of philosophy. I wouldn't be surprised, taking into consideration everyone thinks they're Plato and everyone uses the term so loosely. Some people think practicing religion is philosophy!
I'm not asking you to go study everything there is to study. If I was I would be a hypocrite. All I'm saying is you shouldn't be calling established fields wastes of time just because you're uninterested in them. An intelligent person realizes the merits in things they do not necessarily benefit from, let alone appreciating knowledge for its own fucking sake. You come off as ignorant and also downright pretentious if you decide not to. I don't think art or communications are wastes of time, but I'm almost certain I'll never practice them.
Do you read in your free time?
Also you said in your first post you were bad at those fields.
I know that logic is the bread and butter of philosophy, just not school philosophy. What I meant with waste of time is waste of time to me. Maybe I have a wrong perception of philosophy, but as far as school has shown me, philosophy is highly illogical. I guess that's just limited to school. I appreciate knowledge for its own sake, but when I'm not interested in a specific field, I see it as a waste of time which I can spend on other things, like fields that are interesting to me. I'm bad relatively (Well, absolutely in geography only). But still, I worked hard on them and I can get decent grades, but yeah, compared to other subjects, I'm bad. You just made it feel like I fail at them. :p
I read a bit, but not a lot. I mostly read maths (not school maths), but I'm a bit slow at it, so that's why I don't really read many books. Sometimes I get stuck for an hour on 3 pages, and sometimes things tick fast. I've read some literature, but except for "Crime and Punishment", I've found other books horribly boring. Maybe that's just me.
