No, it won't stop working. That's why mineral oil is awesome.
But it's exactly because it's insulating, would that not stop current from flowing through when both poles of a switch touch? I mean some current can still pass through but I'm afraid it would create some resistance to this current, more than if there was no oil at all. But anyway I'm not soaking my camera, or not even the problematic scroll wheel in natural oil anytime soon (or not even my computer) but it's nice to know the electrical properties of this liquid and and might be useful in some situations.
eWizzard wroteA word of warning: DON'T IMPORT ANY I**********.
To keep it short, our infallible and super well-informed and educated authorities have recently fucked up royally on this particular chemical. Importing it (especially in the high purity form) as an individual can get you into lots of trouble, regardless of whether your intended application is legitimate or not, so I strongly advise you to avoid it. I can't give you more details, because as you've probably guessed now is not an appropriate time, and you probably wouldn't stomach the sheer stupidity of the matter anyway.
What kind of paranoia is that? 99% I******* (can I not pronounce the name now?) can be extracted from normal rubbing alcohol by just using salt (I just learned that). What's this about? explosives? Drugs? Will you have to kill me if you tell me? Are you really afraid of pronouncing it? Are we even talking about the same thing? If we are, then I can't decide whether you're serious or not, this sounds so much over the top.
