I am trying for now to block the youtube app (SOLVED in my next post) on my network but I can't, please help... What I've tried:
I've re read the solutions you mentionned here, so
@Stygmata I actually found in my TP LINK Access Managment tab the filter tab which gives some control (ip/MAC/url blocking) so I tried blocking a various combination of youtube urls with no success because youtube uses https and that can't be blocked with the url blocking.
@Johnaudi @MrClass I ve set in my tp link modem to use the OpenDns dns and it worked and I blocked the following domains: youtube.com, l.google.com and googlevideo.com
Edit: so youtube was blocked, but I got an error in chrome when visiting gmail and a notification in my chrome account
"Your connection is not private
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from mail.google.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID"
Tried rebooting the modem, my ip address changed, had to update my ip in opendns dashboard, google error again.
I think it is because I am blocking one of these l.google.com and googlevideo.com, here they mentionned how to circumvent the error
https://support.opendns.com/entries/42404534-HSTS-and-Pinning-Certificate-Errors-and-BPB-Your-connection-is-not-private-or-Cannot-connect-to-the-
but I want to access gmail on all the laptops at home without getting the certificate error...
Tried removing l.google.com and googlevideo.com from the blocking in opendns and the google error disappeared, youtube was blocked on the laptop (since I've kept youtube.com blocking) but not the youtube app, I think it requires the 2 domain names I removed to be blocked... :/
