Hello everyone, I am thinking of buying PS4 or an Xbox ONE for Christmas. I read somewhere that the Internet connection should be fast. And you, PS4 and Xbox One owners, what is your internet plan's speed? And do you experience any lag or something?
Internet speed for console gaming online?
2mb or more. Ping is more important than speed for a good online experience therefore DSL is ur best option here. Who's ur ISP btw? I am an IDM subscriber with a 4Mbit plan and I can say that im satisfied with my internet connection
I don't have an DSL. We are subscribed to a "cable guy" and the Internet speed depends on the number of users that are online. It is sometimes slow (0.1 mbps) and sometimes fast (2 mbps). But his service is starting to get worse ( long periods without internet ) and we are thinking of switching to IDM.
you can never trust the *cable guy* with online gaming, you are better off getting dslelie955ai wroteI don't have an DSL. That is what I am going to do. The 50gb 2mbps plan of IDM seems good. BTW do IDM have FUP?(because I download a lot, at midnight for sure)
Not for the limited plans. And dont forget to ask for a real IP.elie955ai wroteThat is what I am going to do. The 50gb 2mbps plan of IDM seems good. BTW do IDM have FUP?(because I download a lot, at midnight for sure)
Why is a real IP important?
Because it's your own IP, not shared with any other user. So more stability, better latency... better connection. Real IP is required to play on xbox live or PSN.
a month later
Please differentiate between Real IP for UPNP and good quality connection, i will ask the question in other way: can we play PS3 (in my case) with a good latency and speed connection but without Real IP ??NickTheQuick wroteBecause it's your own IP, not shared with any other user. not having a real IP doesn't have to do with the latency and quality of the connection , having a real IP will avoid you having disconnections while playing. You better get a real IP.amkahal wrotePlease differentiate between Real IP for UPNP and good quality connection, i will ask the question in other way: can we play PS3 (in my case) with a good latency and speed connection but without Real IP ??NickTheQuick wroteBecause it's your own IP, not shared with any other user.
