Hello,
I want to know what are the bands used in Lebanon for 3G and LTE. More specifically what do I need to look for in an android tablet to have it compatible with data plans in Lebanon. In general, how does one get 3G/LTE working on android tablets, I mean, do you need a sim with a number, like is it like having a second phone (provided you want to keep your original)?
Thanks
NuclearVision
i think 3g anything would work, for non cdma/US model phones.
as for LTE if memory serves it is 1800Mhz
makhoder
3G any phone will work or 99% of them, as for LTE they use 1800mhz as NuclearVision stated

So I should check whether the device supports 1800 MHz LTE? Ok.
So supposing I have the device, how do I get any data plan for it? It's not a phone, it's a tablet btw.

US does not use 1800MHz LTE. This is following list is from this website [You are not allowed to post links]:
4G LTE AT& T 700/1700/1900/2100Mhz;
4G LTE Verizon 700/1700Mhz;
4G LTE T-Mobile USA 700/1700/1900Mhz;
4G LTE Sprint 800/1900/2500Mhz;
4G LTE MetroPCS 1700/2100Mhz;
4G LTE NewCore Wireless 1900Mhz;
4G LTE SRT Wireless 1900Mhz;
4G LTE U.S. Cellular 700/850/1900/2100Mhz;
4G LTE Adams Networks 700Mhz;
4G LTE AlaskaComm / GCI 1700Mhz;
4G LTE Big River Broadband 1700Mhz;
4G LTE Bluegrass Cellular 700Mhz;
4G LTE C Spire 1700/1900Mhz;
4G LTE Colorado Valley 700Mhz;
4G LTE ETC 700Mhz;
4G LTE Evolve Broadband 700Mhz;
4G LTE Fuego Wireless 700Mhz;
4G LTE miSpot 700Mhz;
4G LTE Mosaic Telecom 700/1700Mhz;
4G LTE Nex-Tech Wireless 700Mhz;
4G LTE Nortex 700Mhz;
4G LTE nTelos 1900Mhz;
4G LTE PTCI 700Mhz;
4G LTE Peoples Telephone Cooperative 700Mhz;
4G LTE Space Data Corporation 1700Mhz;
4G LTE Syringa 700Mhz4G LTE United Wireless 700Mhz;
4G LTE VTel 700Mhz;
Manufacturer have no incentive to make 1800MHz LTE chips for US based devices, and if Lebanon sticks with just 1800MHz, US devices won't work with LTE in Lebanon. That same site says the Lebanon uses 2100MHz for 3G (that's band 1 apparently), the US uses that band as well, so US devices would work with 3G in Lebanon. So the natural question is, are there any plans to introduce new 4G LTE bands in Lebanon? Any talk on moving away from analogue television broadcast to open the 800MHz band?
So supposing I get a US android tablet, back to my second original question, what's the process of "installing" 3G on it? sim/plan...?

Long Short..
3G in Lebanon airs on the 900 MHZ and 2100MHZ frequencies
while the LTE is on the 1800MHZ only
