rolf wroteThis is awesome news. I just read it today. It's amazing how small the comet is, and awesome to look at the photos.
I also think comet have awesome potential for exploring the space around the earth, as they move very fast and their trajectories can cross cuts the solar system as it seems to be the case here. I was a bit disappointed when i learn that the ship would eventually stop functioning due to the heat, I was hoping that it would stay functional for the whole duration of the comet's orbit. So anyway it made me think about the potential of using comets for transport around the solar system and galaxy, and I'm sure not to be the only one to see that.
Yup, a comet's perihelion will take it way too close to the sun and will probably fry the satellite. Also the comet heating up might dislodge Rosetta all together considering it's buried only 4CM deep!
