I am thinking of upgrading my 1st gen i5 to Haswell so I will be able to run any incoming games on Ultra.
My Geforce 650ti Boost max potential looks like it's limited by the CPU and old mobo, it can run Battlefield 4 with half the settings in High and the other half in Ultra, so an extra help from a faster and more powerful CPU will be enough to be on Ultra all the way.
Also what I gain from changing my ''old'' mobo to the new one:
-Sata 2 3gb/s VS Sata 3 6gb/s (yes I have an SSD 240GB)
-Geforce slot 2.0 VS 3.0 (Geforce 650 ti boost is 3.0)
PCandParts has an interesting MSI Mobo model H97 PC Mate http://www.msi.com/product/mb/h97_PC_Mate.html#hero-overview
I don't mind not having BT and Wifi, USB 3.0 and 4 DIMM slots are good stuff for me.
So from your experience MSI Mobos are good quality or I should get Asus?
Go with the Asus Z97 K or Asus Z97 A :) ; Change of GPU is also recommended dude.
If you want to overclock go with an Asus Z97-A and a 4690K, if you don't want to overclock go with an Asus B85 Pro Gamer and a Xeon E3 1230 V3
You should also consider getting a better video card *cough* GTX 970 *cough*
What's your budget?

Side note:
- Motherboards don't effect performance.
- PCIE 2.0 vs 3.0 on Titan = almost nothing in terms of performance
- SATA 2 vs SATA 3, sure programs will load faster, nothing else
- H97 + 4970 would be a great choice.

Why should he get an Xeon? He's not building a server or a workbench :/ I never ran across a gaming rig with an intel Xeon, I'm not that savvy though. And I looked up "Xeon for gaming", it's not that recommended.

Some Xeons have a better value than consumer i series chips. But yeah I guess they wouldn't be so good for gaming. Although some buy them to use them for rendering and such.
@ILIA_93 the Xeon E3 1230 V3 is a 4770 without the iGPU, you get i7 performance for the price of an i5
Why changing gpu? I bought mine last year and I am not a super mega player to put 600$ on a gpu Lol!!!
As I said the gpu is not reaching full capacity because of the old i5, a new haswell i5, 8gb Ram instead of 4 should make a good difference in games performance, of course all that need a new mobo.
I counted about 420-450$ for all that, I have other expenses than PC that's why I can't use a bigger budget
@AvoK95 Don't underestimate the power of the Xeons they're very good for gaming
Edit: I'm talking about E3s not E5s

Well I have seen E3s in gaming. However unfortunately, some motherboards lack the support of Xeons.

If you're gonna be gaming at 1080p you need a good graphics card. There's no rule to be an "ultra mega uber gamer" to have a decent graphics card.

You can get the CPU and board now, check the performance of the GPU, if you're fine with it, great, if you're not, well..you need a new GPU.

The GTX 650 Ti Boost is still a very good card but it won't max out every game. And the GTX 970 isn't a 600$ GPU, it's 350$ AND in some games it gives out higher FPS than a motherf***ing 780 Ti now that's bang for buck
I have an Asus Z87-A bought like 1 week ago..
Why would anyone buy a Z87-A for 250$ when pcandparts is selling the Z97-A for 209$
Its pretty ironic because I just sold it to someone and he is coming tomorrow to pick it up :)
vegetaleb wroteMsi is so bad?
Gigabyte, MSI, Asus top 3 brands.
Gtx 970 at 350$?
Do you really live in Lebanon?
At this price you get the 760
