Hello LebGeekers!
Does anyone know a bookshop that sells used textbooks? I've asked Maliks and the Antoine; both of them only sell news versions. And to be honest, they're very expensive! Do you advise me to buy those illegal photocopied versions of textbooks, or it's better to pay the extra $ to buy a used/ new genuine version?
Thanks in advance.

Buy the photocopied versions and if there's a book you like or is important buy the original copy of it , you will use it later in your life.

I personally only buy original books for courses that I think I'll need later in life. I download the rest, makes life easier...

But isn't buying the photocopied version illegal since there are copyright policies and limitations? I know that the Lebanese government does not care at all about these issues, but still...

Or download the pdf version , but some books you will need later as @Blue also said so it's better to get the original version.
downloading pirated software is also illegal but you do it anyway
If you paid for the windows and Microsoft Office on your pc and every other software then you have the right to not feel right when downloading or buying photocopied books.

@aliessayli2 @Blue You are right.
I think I will go ahead and buy the original copy of the CMPS elective course. I am a freshman student now and my deliberate major is CS. So I guess that the book can come in handy for next year.
Thanks guys.

Yes, the photocopied books are illegal, plain and simple. If you want to find used books, get on Facebook. I forgot the names of the groups since I deleted my Facebook years ago, but there are groups out there where people post the books they're looking to buy or sell and you can reply and meet up with people to make the deals happen. Again, forgot the names of the groups. Ask on your campus.

Anybody know where to get used books? Or photocopied ones? I hate using those groups on Facebook.

Well depending on your university .. i know for a fact that AUB for example have some books in the library for lend .. but they are "limited" if you r early you can have one free .. other universities may not have the strict "authentic book" policies.
I graduated AUST and there was a few copy centers around that have old books "including Malik's" i'm not sure if they are still doing this service specially that Drs insist on the newest version .. From personal experience buy original books only if the class is a major or if you find the old book cheap... it is always hard on first year to find some other students with the old book to loan.
A photocopy is very reliable on those elective courses and i managed once to fool the teacher by printing the cover on good colored paper

I already found the books. We have a small restaurant who apparently sells photocopied illegal books on the side.
