Summer is almost to an end and I got a project to install 3 satellite dishes in our city home.
I need 4 receivers for the rooms and TV's.
I'm trying to replace all the CRT TV's in the place. So far there are 3 left. So I figured I'd get HD receivers. The problem is that a receiver that doesn't die in 2 weeks and is not a 480p machine with a stupid HDMI port costs $50.

Anybody know if there are 1080P HD receivers under $40? (that doesn't die in 2 weeks? )
Because 4x50$ just for the receiver is a bit too much to pay upfront since there are also the dishes, the heads, the installation fees etc.
I once bought a mini HD receiver. It was about the size of a hand and quite cheap, don't remember how much exactly but I didn't have a chance to try it since it didn't work with cablevision and I had to return it.
You should check corniche el mazraa it's filled with satellite shops, ask around and you'll find what you need.
I bought 2 hd receivers both starsat, one didn't receive Hd channels, the other is just great, HD channels and USB recording, media player, it is a starsat sr9696HD it's been serving for half a year now, very solid. It lacks a dve card slot though.
Edit: it's also cheap under 40$ or 50$ if I remember correctly. Stay away from mini receivers I haven't yet to see any real HD, all are scams, they also turn hot pretty quick and have tons of problems.
I also believe normal receivers are 576i resolution, you can operate any common resolution on that starsat.
May I also ask why you need hd receiver ? There aren't pretty much channels on arabsat nilesat, unless assuming you're catching a European satellite ?
Yes just like nuclear vision said.
You don't have HD channels on nilesat or arabsat, not that much.
You have more on Hotbird.
But all HD channels on these three satellites are going to be locked.
Unless you are planning to buy channel bouquets subscription cards. It's useless that you want HD receivers.
I also think if you're planning to do that... You need a card for each receiver.. Or you have to move to the card to the specific TV and receiver that you want to watch on every time.
You would find 100-120$ HD revceivers, with cccam server subscription inside from the dealer you bought from.. That will let you watch most scrambled channels on Hotbird, including HD, and some on nilesat.
These receivers, their price would be lower outside, I think, but this is the case in here with the dealers.
It runs for one year, and it's gonna be 1080i resolution.
I want an HD receiver because 1- All TV's in the house are getting upgraded to a minimum of 1080P. 2- I am subscribing to Hotbird, Turksat and Nilesat (Unless I can get all or most Nilesat channels on Hotbird). 3- I might get subscriptions every once in a while when I feel like it.

But most of all. This is going to be a long term purchase, so I want to choose something that's not too outdated and it'll last a long time.

Is Starsat a generic brand? What official brands are there? I have yet to find any.
NuclearVision wroteSubscription? What subscription ?
For paid channels.
@AvoK
To every receiver you need a subscription whether it is CCcam or Newcamd etc...
I have 2 subscription for 2 receivers. If you use the same Clines to another receiver they will detect it and stop your subscription.

This will add up budget mate because 7aram you use HD TVs with no HD chanels..
a year later

I have a technocombs receiver---they aren't too bad and mine came with a 15 month subscription and wifi dongle, but it costs $70. The subscription includes many cablevision channels, but not all as well as limited channels from Nilesat and an extensive channel list from Hotbird. They are better than starsat IMO as I have had nothing but problems with Starsat receivers in the same price range. Take a look at this link at it will tell you what the included in the g-share subscription http://charge-ser.tv/support_channel.php?type=0

The biggest issue I have with the Technocombs receiver is that it doesn't have an optical audio out, otherwise it does the job you are looking for. Additionally, if you want all or most of channels from Cablevision and Digitek, that will run you extra $$. I would suggest you prioritize which receivers 'need' the subscription as included one will take care of a majority of your needs.

Thanks for your reply.
Is the subscription from this website by default ? Maybe the shop you bought it from added this subscription.
but as for the receiver quality and features , it's good, right?& I can subscribe with another good cccam server later . Right ? Or am i stuck with a specific account that came by default ?

Just ask when you buy it if it includes a built in subscription and about the support for Cablevision and how long the subscription lasts. It did come included with the subscription (G-share) and you can add up to 39 more cccam/newcs/Mgcamd subscriptions if you wish. Also, ask if they renew the subscription. When I bought my receiver last summer, an annual renewal was $20, so definitely saves you money with multiple receivers.

I can't say that this receiver has a 'wow factor', but it works and is functional. Channels that are supported come are highlighted in yellow so you know which stations are decoded and is pretty quick on my 1 meg connection. It has a couple of of USB slots so you can use one for the wireless dongle and another for an external hard drive.
and my folks back home are still with the 10$/month dish. fuck me
I bought EchoSat: Smart 3D / Full HD - 9000X -Perfect All Around Satellite Receiver , and I have managed to decipher the Cable Vision All Scrambled Channels, so not it is time to get rid of the local cable distributor in our area.

Congrats. First thing you notice is how crappy the picture and sound are from your local cable guy. The next thing you don't notice is how quickly you forget about him. :)

hey guys,
has anybody tried a class hd brand receiver? they're around 60 -80$ and come with a subscription for 15 months.
and what about starsat 1515hd ,it is a kind of mini receiver which costs 30$ at dalbani and comes with 3 months subscription ?
please any feedback for those receivers ?
Hi
I have a class HD receiver and it is working fine, good picture and easy to use user interface, it is not a top receiver but it is good for the price.
I just i don't like these small compact receivers with attachments for remote, i think the purpose of these receivers is to hide them behind the screen in case you don't have space.
i didn't try the starsat receiver ,but for this low price i think it will not has the menu options that class hd has, it will have basic user interface that you will struggle with it each time you want to search for a specific channel.
I have the STAR-X MINI-5 EXTRA it is a small HD receiver but have
a socket to insert subscription card,
2 usb ports one of them has a tenda wifi dongle to connect to the server(come with a subscription for 350 day)
the menu is very easy to use with filter and search options
it can drive my 600GB hard disk and play 3gp,flv,mp4,mov movies.
i bought it for 45$ five months ago.
Hey, I've been using the class hd receiver for a while now. Beside the 15 months G-share 3 subscription, it also comes with 6 months of IPTV where all bein channels can be streamed. I haven't had any problems with it. Highly recommended. The receiver costs exactly 60 usd at the satellite shop under cola bridge, next to where the buses of Shouf park. If u need a wifi dongle they have gd one for 10 thou as well. Another version of the receiver has become available recently running on android. So i suppose you'd have functionalities similar to a smart tv and the receiver costs 100 usd. I'll probably get one of those soon to try them out.
I finally got Technocoms x- 60000 plus hd receiver (it costs about 70-90$). It has a server for 15 months also, iptv subscription , g-vod ... It is generally good with stable server for most of channels but the bein sports hd 1 & 2 in French on Hotbird freezes a lot.Do you have the same problem with your subscription?
Thank you guys for your feedback. I'll probably buy a class hd receiver when i want to buy a receiver for my room.
