Hi all ,

i m looking for the best bang for the bucket gaming laptop possible.
i checked with pcandparts ( the first go to place as everyon :P )
they have the lenovo y50 incoming soon.

my price bracket is 1400$ give or take 100$.
i m not looking for the best possible since it ll be 2k ++ that i know i did my research.

Also considering that i m traveling to Europe at the end of the summer what do u advise: by here in Lebanon or by in Europe thru amazon or <insert nice priced website here>

so my query is 2 fold ?

--> laptop recommendation ? (MSI vs ASUS vs lenovo vs other )
--> where to buy recommendation ?

thanks in advance guys and as usual much appreciated
i have a Lenovo Y500 and very very happy with it, i use it more like a desktop actually. I highly recommend it if you want to use it as a desktop most of the time and its price is ridiculously cheap around $1000
okay after a few hours of searching i found this on ldlc.com (someone mentioned the website in another thread ,thanks for that guys )

Avis MSI GE60 2PE-209XFR Apache Pro

http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00165513.html

now this is where i need pro advice, it looks good enough to play most rts and mmos right ? ( not a big fps fan)
also how would i go about adding RAM? i mean i know how to do it on a desktop and such but on a laptop what kind of ram am i supposed to buy ,?
also thinking of adding a small ssd msata for the OS ( going to be win7 i guess)

opinions?

again thanks in advance
The best recommendation I can give you for a gaming laptop is to buy a gaming desktop. The second best recommendation I would give you is to buy everything from Europe. Anything else is a waste of time and money.

I agree with Avo. A gaming laptop is an oxymoron. You can get an okay gaming laptop to play current MMOs but don't expect to play ultra setting fps games and such.

I'm assuming its WoW or the like, most gaming laptops should be able to handle those perfectly but just don't expect to run BF4 on them on high.

Happy hunting.

This was golden. Time for analysis.

"The best recommendation I can give you for a gaming laptop is to buy a gaming desktop."

You begin by saying "the best recommendation I can give you for a gaming laptop" and then end with "is to buy a gaming desktop." You should note that you specifically said "for a gaming laptop" in your sentence which implies that your recommendation is about gaming laptops. To tell him that he should buy a gaming desktop is not a recommendation about gaming laptops. Ergo, this sentence doesn't make sense.

"The second best recommendation I would give you is to buy everything from Europe. Anything else is a waste of time and money."

Taking into consideration that this is a Lebanese board, let us assume neonsun lives in Lebanon. In this sentence, you state that he should buy everything from Europe and that anything else is a waste of time and money. Let us first deal with the issue of money. To say something is a "waste of money" is to posit that whatever object was involved in the transaction is not worth the value of the money spent. This would only make sense if, say, for example, neonsun was held at gunpoint and forced to buy something he didn't want or didn't value. In such a case, the value of the money to him would be greater than the value of the object, and thus we would have a "waste of money." Fortunately, neonsun is buying his gaming computer on his own inclination and is willing to pay a certain amount for it. By definition, neonsun thus values the object (in this case, the computer) as much as his money, and so the transaction is no longer a "waste of money."

Moving on to the issue of time, it makes no sense to purchase things from Europe over purchasing things from Lebanon when one is worried about time. Again, we will assume neonsun is in Lebanon. If he were to head down to any computer store or to place an order over the internet, he would have his product within a few days if not on the very same day he decided to buy it. If, however, taking into consideration neonsun was in Lebanon, he decided to purchase his items from Europe, not only would he never be able to get it during the same day he makes the order, but it would probably take no less than a week for him to finally receive the computer. On this notion then, your thoughts of what is a waste of time are flawed. On the contrary, to save time, neonsun should NOT buy his products from Europe.

Do not be so rash with your words, sir. Remember, the fool speaks because he has to say something. The wise man speaks because he has something to say.

Cheerio, and may the fires of Akatosh light your way.
dio wroteA gaming laptop is an oxymoron.
It seems you do not know what an oxymoron is. An oxymoron is a contradictory statement. For example, a tall midget. "Gaming" and "laptop" are not inherently contradictory.

Akatosh guide you.
This is not a philosophy topic, it doesn't add any value to the topic, really
With all due respect, who would waste his time listening to a person following a video game character, people wake up, video games control minds (?)
As for the topic, get a desktop like Avok recommended .
Never get a gaming laptop.
What Avok said makes total sense, we are here to discuss computers not over-analyzing if his words made sense or not.
you must be really bored @tt400

I'm amazed at how you deduced I was bored. Is this what you do when you're bored?

I figured you must have more important things to do than writing all that unnecessary post.

I thought it was pretty much a given that if a person is on LebGeeks, they don't have more important things to do.
Alienware 17 or Origin EON ... But still they can be beaten by a cheaper desktop
Get a Mac mini with a portable LED screen. Wherever you go make sure there is electricity.
It will be your portable gaming setup.
I can't think of anything better xD, unless you wanna pay a lot of a real gaming laptop.
Come back to reality, too many RPG's!
for your budget, i would go for the lenovo y50. It should run everything on medium-high very easily.
Basically anything with a 840m or gtx 850m and above is what you need to be looking for. preferably a quad core processor should be future proof.
if you are set on a laptop then probably disregard most of the stuff said already as most people look at it from their perspective.
