  • [Dota2] The International 4

The International 4 (TI4) is probably the biggest event in professional gaming so far with a prize pool going over $10.000.000 (yes, that's 10 million dollars for playing video games). The event is bringing pro gaming (or "esports" as they like to call it) to the mainstream. The final stages between the best 8 teams are being played over this weekend and will be broadcasted live on ESPN.

Anyone is following it? Which team are you rooting for? Which plays did you enjoy most? What do you think of the edition this year?
Was rooting for alliance :D but that didn't work out to well , vicigaming which i never heard of had sick plays...until yesterday where newbee is just demolishing everyone.

overall its nice to see video games come this far and i look forward to downloading " free to play " which happens to b 8 gigs movie about this, but i think ive murdered my quota
Newbee's insane at the moment. I honestly don't know who can stop them now, especially after their streak yesterday. VG's not out and I still expect much from them. They have an enormous amount of experience and they have been in difficult situations before. It's too bad for Alliance. I really like this team. S4 is arguably my favorite player. His understanding of the game is astonishing. I was seriously surprised they got eliminated so fast.

I've watched "Free to play", it's nice. A little cheesy, for sure, with lots of clichés, but it's pretty cool to watch. Unfortunately, it focuses more on players (Dendi, Fear and Hyhy) than on the game. There's very little Dota showed (let alone any analysis of the game), instead they show the family, childhood, emotions of players, the tournament, the prize money, ...

Question: Why's Lycan banned first practically every single game in this tournament? His win rate in pubs is not outstanding. I know that pubs and pro games are very different, but it shows at least the the hero is not obnoxiously overpowered. Let me rephrase this question: How can I use Lycan to dominate pubs?
Well i used to play lycan only during dota 1 and he has alot of potential ...also the fact that his howl effects entire map..imagin buffed up engima edilons or some other hero with already high base damage...also invisible wolves are like living breathing wards that u can block heros with so ur team can either escape or catch up ...and at level 7 u can max wolves and take out rosh with vlads or without if u micro wolves proper...and his ultimate man :P u cant slow down the dude in it and well his pushing potential is amazing if u buy necronomicon.

you can even farm 2 camps at the same time..for pubs its one of the easier heros to play thats for sure.

now i am no pro by any stretch of the imagination but this is why i think he gets banned first
Lycan got buffed lately so now the Howl is more powerful, combined with a necro 3 and wolves you can get any tower down in around 10 secs. So you can't push a lane as 5 and not having to go back to defend and none of the teams want to deal with split pushing.

Anyway there's a lot of other heroes getting some hype in this TI like skywrath mage, this hero was banned or picked in every match of the playoff.

When it comes to the teams, the game is changing a lot with every patch and the teams are not really adapting so well to these changes, VG and Newbee are doing good but the old teams like c9, Na'Vi,IG are struggling ..

I'm rooting for Na'Vi though I don't think they will win.
That's it. Na'Vi's out.

I was rooting for them as well, but I was very disappointed in their draft, especially in game 3. Death Prophet on Dendi? Split push strategy? It's not the Na'Vi I wanted to see. I was really hoping to see Pudge, but that didn't happen :(

Notice also that DK tried a similar strategy (Death Prophet/Shadow Shaman aggressive push) and it was countered by EG in a similar way yesterday. I'm glad this is happening. Stop playing this "rat" Dota. Show us cool team fights.

Kudos for C9 on playing an amazing first game. Good luck for EE-sama and the team for the rest of the tournament :)
