  • how to remove adware

My Firefox and explorer home page keep changing into some site called arabonline, I keep uninstalling some bar application from the Add/remove in control panel but it keeps coming back.
The application name in Add/remove was ARhome i uninstalled it and removed it from my hard drive then removed all entries from the registry. then restarted and...my homepage changed again.

any help.
After doing that, make sure to run a malware and virus scan. If you have a second computer handy, I recommend connecting your HDD to that PC and scan it that way, so that system files don't interfere, after that connect it back to the PC and run Windows repair from the Windows installation CD, open command promt and type "SFC /Scannow" so that it repairs any damaged/infected/deleted system files.
Thanks Guys, InVader I followed the steps and removed all traces from startup and registry then I had to reset my Firefox. and now my home page is not arabyonline anymore. A popup from arabyonline still coming I will install a malware and see what happens.

any suggestion for a free malware and adware? I believe I got this virus from a malware, because since I installed it I began to have this issue.
It is malware and not maleware :D

I have no idea about current anti malware programs. I have been using Linux since several years without having to really worry about viruses, malware, adware, or whatever :)
Go to ninite.com
tick MalwareBytes
download the tool and it will download and install everything automatically.
@AvoK95, I see you edited and corrected your maleware post. Slick! :)

Yes I am ;)
xerxes just followed suit and corrected his post too ;)

@xerxes, were you successful in getting rid of arabyonline?
malwarebytes anti-malware and superanti-spyware should do the trick .

My homepage isn't changing to arabyonline automatically anymore but I am still getting 2 or 3 page pop ups from arabyonline.
Did you check your Firefox addons for some fishy entry?

What if you try Chrome or IE? That would give you a better idea where to look.

One more suggestion: Check your hosts file.

.

I checked my FF addons and removed one fishy extension.

My IE isn't displaying Arabyonline as home page anymore.

how do I check my host file? !
Since IE is not displaying any popups, I doubt that the hosts file was affected. Search your hard disk for *host* (* is the wildcard). Its exact name could be lmhosts on Windows.

If Firefox is the only browser affected, uninstall it, remove its configuration data (wherever it is) and re-install it.
Start / Run then type the below :
notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
