the connection between Ogero box and the house is a standard 1.5mm electric cable, and the house is on the 8th floor. I am willing to change it, but will it give me a better SNR?
ahk40a, honestly those are one of the worst stats that i have seen! 237 kbps with SNR 6.1!! try changing the cable and see!
The FUP on unlimited plans is a nightmare...when I download 1G at night...I know I'm doomed the next day
Was IDM slow the whole day (14/12/14) with some websites not accessible no matter what? Or was I somehow FUPed?
raichu wroteWas IDM slow the whole day (14/12/14) with some websites not accessible no matter what? Or was I somehow FUPed?
Well online gaming has been very bad for like a week for me now with a very unstable ping so i think IDM are having some issues. If you are subscribed to a limited plan then it's more likely that this is the case and not FUP.
Agreed about the slowness this week!
Very true, some websites are not accessible without using a VPN.
Can anybody check if you can access the following website?
http://segmentnext.com/

I cannot access it using IDM at all, but i can easily access it using 3G or a VPN.

Also, Facebook is slow and some pictures are not loading at all! been like that since yesterday 14/12/2014
and that is on a 8 Mbps plan!
@wollyka I was able to access the website.

Same thing happening with me. 4M plan.
Examples of sites which are not accessible: segmentnext.com - pubmed.com - jco.ascopubs.org
Speed is very labile. Only able to reach acceptable numbers post midnight.
Did you contact IDM for explanation?
As usual they said the problem is from my end!
Edit: However, Email support was very helpful .
Part of their network are not able to access websites hosted on Hetzner. Such as makhsoom.com, segmentnext.com etc...
Port 80 and 443 (http & https) are the only two innaccessible ports. Pinging and traceroute seems to be working fine though.

I don't know whether Hetzner has blocked their IPs or IDM messed up with their firewall, but there is definitely a problem.
This is the reply I got from support, didn't test it yet

So a lot of you guys complaining about the slow service of IDM lately. I recently emailed IDM and got response from them concerning this situation.

Here is my email sent to IDM:
Good day,

I am currently subscribed to the to your DSL service.

I have been experiencing extreme slowness on my DSL connection from 6pm to 1am for several weeks now, during these 7 hours, my internet speeds falls well below normal, reaching Dial-up speeds!

At the same time some websites are not reachable at all during these hours on my DSL yet they work normally on my phone’s 3G connection.

After 1AM my connection speeds gradually goes back to normal, This have been the case for several weeks now.

Please be advised that I have tested the issue on multiple computers connected to either wifi or directly to the modem by cable, while disconnecting other devices from my network with the same result always.

Thank you
And Here is their reply to my email:
Dear Mr,

With reference to your complaint reported below, we are sorry to inform that we are facing a general slowness problem at night and unfortunately there is no estimated time when it will be solved since there are some procedures as well as technical measures with the ministry of telecommunication that cannot be fixed in just a press button, and that is the reason behind the delay in resolving this problem.
Please accept our apology and be sure that we are doing our best to provide our customers the best service and the best image of the internet providers and that every negative fact or issue is always beyond our capacity.

We are sincerely sorry, that we cannot help this time.

Thank you for your understanding,

Sincerely ,

I clearly can assume that the problem they are facing is caused by Ogero not issuing requested bandwidth (E1s), and that their current capacity is not enough to cope with the demands of the rush hours (afternoon- midnight).
For some reason i think it has to do with the central offices too. I didn't experience such severe slowness although you're right about congestion and the hours. The only major problem i have is video buffering. Otherwise multithreaded download has been giving me full speed all day long (i use internet download manager).
So we all agree that the internet connection for IDM was disastrous for the last few days .. yesterday connecting to "haifa" the ping was above 400ms .. today however connecting to "London" through"vodaphone" was the following:

Take into consideration that i have the 15Gb 4mb plan from IDM.
Speedtest "haifa" "london" is not related to your connection, and they are not aware there is conflict between Lebanon-Israel, they assume geographically close countries have internet exchange connectivity. Make choice manually for test location.
There a speedtest node in Lebanon hosted by Mobi-Cedarcom. Try that and post results :-)

The websites which were causing trouble (www.pubmed.com, jco.ascopubs.org...) are not working again.

What's wrong with IDM?
