Hi all
I assume some of you know that before the end of this month we should go to Ogero to choose the new DSL plan we wish to get, else they will subscribe us to the cheapest one (2 Mbps with 40 Gb limit). So my purpose is to know which one are you willing to choose and why do you think it's adequate.
Personally I'll go with the 6-8 Mbps with 60 Gb download cap for 65 000 LL because i think this speed is enough for most common tasks and very reasonable in downloading big files. As for the download limit, 60 Gb are average because who needs more can download after midnight, and the price is 10 000LL cheaper then my current 2 Mbps and it's acceptable.
What do you guys think?
6-8Mbps is a great deal IMO. Though, you have to see about the speed... I bet it's going to be 6Mbps all the time, unless there's some certain time to start 6 to 8 Mbps keeping it constant.

Well even if it will stay at 6 Mbps most of the times, this speed is sufficient (you can browse instantaneously and watch hd videos at 1080p without buffering)
i am with ogero and i will pick the 6 to 8 mbps and 60gb plan it's cost effecient and 10k cheaper than my current plan...and u can do enormous downloads at midnight(20 gb in just 7 hours!! in case the speed was 6mbps) and 5 hrs and 30min in case if it's 8mbps
For me I'm gonna try to get 4mbit/s 50GB plan(currently on 1mbit/s), However if Ogero tells me my line can't handle more than 2mbit/s (I live 1.7KMs away from the CO and my Line attenuation down is 44dB) then I shall get 2mbit/s unlimited option, and test if it's really unlimited. The 6-8mbit/s option is really tempting but in the end it's up to how much I consume in July and how much my line can handle.

That's exactly what I thought about ;)

Good point, I'm not sure that I won't exceed the 60 Gb limit but I'll do my best :P
Don't get your hopes high gentlemen. The speed will suck at night as usual.
I'm going for the 6-8Mbps plan too. I'm just wondering what the hell does 6-8Mbps means, usually for 1Mbps you get ~0.8Mbps, and for 2Mbps I'm getting currently 1.7Mbps. Will my new speed limit be 5.7mbps or 7.7mbps, the two limits are completely incomparable!

*cough* Ogero *cough*

I have 46.5dB down attenuation, I think I'm barely capable of getting the 6-8Mbps plan :/ I'll find out this week...
The standard signal attenuation spread for a given speed is somewhere in the region of 15-20dB for ADSL2/2+ speeds and 25-30dB for ADSL1 speeds. The following is a "guesstimate" of the line attenuation and maximum attainable speed based on distance:

Less than 1km = 24Mbit
1.0km = 13.81dB = 23Mbit
1.5km = 20.7dB = 21Mbit
2.0km = 27.6dB = 18Mbit
2.5km = 34.5dB = 13Mbit
3.0km = 41.4dB = 8Mbit
3.5km = 48.3dB = 6Mbit
4.0km = 56dB = 4Mbit
4.5km = 62.1dB = 3Mbit
5.0km = 69dB = 2Mbit

But if you're with Cyberia, I'm sure you're going to need way more than 60GB.

I'm with Ogero

Whaaaat ? When did the speed was bad at night ?

I have the 2Mb plan from ogero and I download all night at 225 Kb/s
It all comes down to FUP if you are a non-Ogero subscriber, if it will still be applied (likely it will) a fast connection will be irrelevant if you plan on downloading all night long.
