I saw a youtube(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rwGPQHBbb0) of this free to play game. It is a massive mmo of first person shooters, where battles involve hundreds(if not thousands) of players against each other that can take days...It looks awesome. Anyone tried it?

I tried it, and honestly, i thought it was okay. I think it's mostly because i really suck at it and keep getting myself killed, but it kinda bore me. You can always try it if you want to download 10 gb every week.

Planetside 2 is one of the best MMOFPS ever. I played it to a very high level and kill/death rating. The types of gameplay in it are extremely diverse. You can be a:

- Lone sniper
- close quarters sniper (my favorite, twitch close range instakill headshots)
- Heavy infantry
- Jetpack agile infantry
- Tank commander
- Airforce
- Medic
- Engineer
...........
the choices are endless and it is easy to change between these roles ingame.

You will rarely get bored.

The first 2 days to 2 weeks depending on how elite in FPS you are, you will die by the dozen and not get a single kill. But once you get used to it, you will get around 10-100 kills before you die, and sometimes not die at all.

Yes that is what most reviews say. Frustrating at first but that I must check the video tutorials. I am excited about any game that involves a lot of group collaborative action and .... well action. And it is free to play.

How big is the game btw? I found an 8 GB torrent from last year. I am hoping that the updates from there will be less than 1 GB...

Update is more than 8gb if you want to download it from last year. I even have a 9gb update which i hadn't updated yet since 2 month ago. The reason why update is big is because they overhauled the whole game increasing fps, fixing memory leak problems and added a lot to the game as vehicles, continent and weapons.

Its a great game to play now especially after the performance fixes. i used to get max 25 fps on low now getting 50 in intense fights ( talking about 3 way battles of over 100 per side )

I used the client after all. It was resumable, I set it to download at work on the 4 mbps sodetel between 12 and 7. I got like 7 GB out of 9. (it's 8. something but close to 9) I hope it does not want to update after all that. But it is all good. Whatever happens I will be getting shot in that game by saturday

Update: the game is awesome. Epic awesome. But it eats internet at the rate of 150 MB per hour...
