longbit wrotethe line that you can't dial it is called "parallel line" it comes with less fees i guess not sure how much...
2sd: "asked if I can subscribe for ADSL over Ogero's Internet Line" probably a support technician won't understand that either... again, ogero calls it "parallel line" or "khat radif" in arabic.
all phone lines in lebanon belongs to ogero, but along with ogero, you have other companies that has DSLAM's installed in the CO's and act as DSP or Data Service Provider, they basically carry your data to your ISP.
so yes, if you have a parallel line you can subscribe to adsl via any comapny and it should work fine(wise, idm, terranet, oero etc....)
as for the multiple line, you need a router like mikrotik or anything to which you can connect multiple connection and manage the fail over.
just keep in mind, if you install 100 phone line, all of them will be connected to the same CO (central), if that CO goes down, you go down.
if your ISP is idm or wise or sodetel or... your DSP still might Ogero noting that most of the comapnies have there own DSP's so check your current wise connection, if your DSP is ogero, getting anoher ogero connection will protect you if the ISP goes down which does not happen easily.
i would choose something other the DSL as backup, but if you want just to have fun with big bandwitdh and quota go for that.
big "thank you" for your reply longbit and for the time to write it.
Indeed quota is one of the main goals behind this, and routing data to the better connection to get better latency or quota depending on the port/protocol/application.... but the main goal is to have fun with learning :)
I have Mikrotik Routerboard RB2011UiAS-IN with two wifi antenna (tried to get RM version but not available in Leb) to do the job.
your DSP still might Ogero noting that most of the comapnies have there own DSP's so check your current wise connection
How can I check this? My CO is Tall in Tripoli. Is there anything I can do or I have to call Tech support?
if your DSP is ogero, getting anoher ogero connection will protect you if the ISP goes down which does not happen easily.
mmmm didn't understand that, i thought that having different DSPs can provide us with a failover!
About Internet Line, actually i read about it here:
http://www.ogero.gov.lb/Published/EN/dslcprices.html
it says that i can have dsl over it, but i'm not sure about the quality. will it be better or worse?
Is it the same as "khat radeef" ?
