So I finally got my FHD DVB-C receiver from the cable guy, it has 2 USB and a Conditional Access slot for Smart Card.
What's the purpose of this card in my case?
Will it gives me more channels or just open scrambled ones already listed in the 300 channels I have.
Btw on 300 channels only 20 are for my taste, all the rest I don't care (100 channels for sports,100 for arabic music,80 channels for Egyptians)!!
So if I can get more European and American channels I would love to if this Card is the key

The slot normally can take any viaccess card such as cable vision or Bis Tv etc..but you would need a dish oriented to those satellites ..
Are you receiving any HD channels?

yep France 2 TF1 M6 are in HD but I would have liked Discovery and History channels in HD

Then you will need Hotbird ie. an installtion of a dish with Lnb and cable etc.. Plus a network sharing so you would need to see if your receiver has an internet access if so then you are fine..

It has an internet access, tried it once and Youtube worked, though it didn't find an upgrade FW,it's still 1.0.
Btw I think Cablevision and cable ichtirak HD channels are in 720p/1080i not 1080p yet but the picture quality is miles better than ordinary channels,France 2 HD is 1080i but is upscaled by the receiver to 1080p

Even by upgrading the software of your receiver you will not receive any extra channels. As i told you need to have those equipments first installed then a sharing network from a provider then you will have all the HD channels and SD etc..
