hello,
I'm trying to choose between two laptops, and i'm kind of lost between them so any thoughts would be helpful:
toshiba qosmio x870-02g 1Tb +128gb ssd, 12gb ram 17,3" nvidia gtx670(or 670m im not sure) 3gb ddr5 for 1400$
or lenovo y510p 4th Gen IntelĀ® Core i7-4700 3.4GHz ,15.6" HD LED, 8GB DDR3L RAM ,1TB HDD storage + 8GB SSD ,NVIDIA GeForce ,GT750M 2GB for 1350$
i want it generally for multimedia some future programming and simulations, and some gaming, so which in your opinion is better?
thank you
rtp
lenovo hands down, you can add another GPU if you want too.

What is the CPU of the Toshiba? The RAM and the larder SSD on the Toshiba are making me lean towards the Toshiba, although the Lenovo's CPU is great and Lenovo has a great reputation for making excellent products.

The Lenovo is the best for its price, considering the GPU, RAM, HDD can be upgraded. However the Lenovo has an SSHD whereas the Toshiba has a dedicated SSD, which makes a world of difference. But you can add an SSD later on the Lenovo.

I'm not planning on upgrading anything with the laptop I'm going to use it as it is, probably from the moment i buy it until 5-7 years later when it begs me to change it, in addition the battery life is the same (lenovo has about 15 mins in addition) same noise same heating.

lenovo has an msata SSD that is used as cache via software from lenovo (u can easily swap it for a bigger one and install windows on it) and so you can can have the big HDD and the msata SDD.
also would consider that lenovo has a problem with the wireless adapter, it goes crazy sometimes refusing to connect - some users have changed the hardware or replaced the lenovo driver with intel one (intel centrino N2230).
toshiba has 4 RAM slots (althouogh works as DIMM) 1600MHz DDR3 with a maximum of 16Gb ... while lenovo has 2 slots only (also works as DIMM) 1600MHz DDR3L and 16Gb max.
toshiba is 3.5 Kg while lenovo is 2.6 (both heavy but lenovo is made of metal) and toshiba is a lot bulkier
some minor details lenovo has SLI but you loose WIDI, and lenovo has 2 x USB3 ( + 1 USB2) while toshiba has 4 x USB3.

I bought the y510p from amazon.com for 959 $ shipped it to lebanon with borderlinx, and I paid 191 $ for dhl for shipping, insurrance, taxes (tva) and duties (0 $) and guess what unlike the model in multimedia megastore the one I got is the full hd model with dual vga (second GT750 already included in the ultrabay), came with the 170w power brick that support SLI, all that for 1150 $ from amazon to my doorstep in lebanon.
Performance wise ? I cant ask for more, I am getting 70-80 fps in battlefield 4 on High settings (nvidia driver 327.21), this laptop is a beast.
I will post a topic soon about my experience with borderlinx, I will attach the bills for people to understand the costs calculation.
