I'm looking for a good audio workstation (in terms of brand) and a good software synthesizer? Any recommendations?

Thanks a lot. I've heard of Ableton but have never used it or seen it used. I'll check YouTube. Thanks a lot for the offer of the sounds, but I would like to start from scratch.

FL Studio is good because it is (relatively) easy to get started with it but, at the same time, it is also flexible and has some serious potential - anyway I can't recommend anything else because it's the only music creation software I have some experience with.

Note that getting serious with FL Studio involves connecting it to a whole bunch of plugins, sort of like what you'd do with Cubase.
I think that plugins nowadays are not tied to a single software, so if you get a plugin you can use it with FLS, Cubase, or other software mentioned here, but I'm mostly speculating, I haven't been producing music in a while. But they might not be compatible across operating systems.

Native Instruments (NI) produce lots of interesting software synths.
