  • MMORPG that are not "pay to win"

I have searched Google and I haven't found an answer to what it is am looking for. So here is the deal am looking for a MMORPG (not FPS) that I and a friend can play without the need of putting any money on it. It should be completely free (no one time buy, no need to put money to buy higher gear, no need to upgrade the account to open some other stuff and bag limits.) Also prefer if the game isn't from perfect world international (since I have had bad history with there employees).
I don't have any experience on this topic but this is a good list to search within

F2P MMORPG

Seriously dude? the worst kind of pay to win.

Also, the terms p2w and f2p are highly subjective and differ from one person to another but I think I know what you mean by it.
As for Chafic, I did a big search on this awhile ago, and basically there's no such thing at least for my own preference in MMO's. You gotta remember that a lot MMOs are completely different from others. Judging by the criteria of the non-pay to stuff you listed, there's no MMO out there that I know of that fits the description, and I've searched a LOT.

I can however suggest, Path of Exile. It's not an MMO, but rather an online ARPG with a similar play style or diablo (since it was based off diablo2 anyway since there was a lack in newer versions of this model during production). I was heavily into MMO's until I started playing this, however I do warn you that it is very complex and can be non-newbie friendly. It's completely free to play, what you can buy are either cosmetics or extra "stash tabs" (but those are far from necessary).
PS: if you do decide to try PoE out, install it from the official site/client and NOT through steam.
I would recommend world of tanks, although the game is pretty big to download about 18-19 GB, try and get a copy of it....it is not pay to win, but there is of course premium account which basically gives you a bit more coin and experience after battles, also you need a premium account to paint the color of your tanks, which I have seen very rarely...It's a pretty nice game, and the latency is always good with me between 110-150
Play Rift, join bloodrion server we have a guild and stuff, game isnt pay to play at all.
You can try eternal lands ( http://eternal-lands.com ). I am top 50 fighter there (and a moderator) and i never put a dollar in the game. The game is completely free.
In fact, I can't spend money on it because they only deal with paypal and lebanon has no paypal ;)
The game shop sells some eye candy items for real life money but they are also sold ingame for 'gold coins' (the game's currency).
All gear, clothes, armor, weapons, etc.. can be made or bought in the game with virtual money which you get from monster drops or selling stuff you make to other players or NPCs. There is absolutely no need to spend a dollar on the game.

You can basically do everything for free. There are NO 'locked quests' or areas like other free games. Many of the top 50 fighters have never ever spent a cent on the game.
None of the game features require real life money.

It runs on windows, linux and OSX. it uses opengl 1.5 and some opengl 2.0 extensions.

There is also an opengl 3.0 port in the works.

Server is in Paris. Ping is 70 to low 80s at VISP and probably 60s for people behind fiber optic connections.

They do server updates with tweaks to the game every two to three weeks.

The client code is open source and developers for free by volunteers. The artwork/server code aren't. In fact all the game staff and community helpers do their job as volunteers for free.
Path of exile and RIFT are both on my download list. It seems like you can get in game currency in RIFT to buy game reputation that is needed to get auction house open.. Also going to try Eternal lands.
Feel free to contact me if you want some beginner tips on PoE. Or if you want a copy of the game instead of downloading it (~7gb)
There was such an MMO. Most people wanted to play without paying, at all, ever. It closed down. All the time and effort the player spent is gone.
If your into superhero games, try dc universe online, although there is a premium subscription.
Nothing is free in life, especially MMOs. Don't expect to find any game with those standards that you just mentioned.
There are 3 types of games:
1- One time buy, such as Guild Wars 2, then whatever you might buy inside is just cosmetic stuff, thus, not pay to win.
2- F2P with subscription. Such as SWTOR, RIFT, LOTRO..etc. Those types of games enables you to play for free, however those who subscribe got HUGE advantage over F2P players. They have all game contents opened for them, if you want to be like them, you need to buy passes from the item shop. Would you consider that pay to win? It isn't exactly that, however, if they didn't do that, why else would people subscribe?
3- F2P without subscription. Such as Metin. Those games start off as free to play, and then you reach a place where the best player is the one who spent the most on the item shop. The best items cannot be acquired in game, but from the item shop. This is a true P2W game.

I'm playing a game called Rappelz (it's old now, like 5 years old, so most players have uber stuff and you'd have a hard time starting) but I never had to pay a penny. All item shop/premium stuff can be bought and sold ingame by players. So I can save up money and buy that 10$ item with ingame money(takes me about 4 days of saving to make 10$ worth of stuff). Of course people who spend 1000$ a month in it will have an advantage over you, but experience and skill can get you there as well.
